CPB expresses concern over India-Pakistan military tensions:
The Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) issued a statement today, May 7, 2025 expressing serious concern over ongoing military tension between India and Pakistan.
CPB in its statement said that the military operation launched by India under the name "Operation Sindoor" in response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22 and, on the other hand, the announcement by Pakistan of a counter attack to India; could take the form of a prolonged war and which could endanger the peace and stability of this region.
CPB President Md. Shah Alam and General Secretary Ruhin Hossain Prince said in this statement that the reactionary bourgeois ruling classes of both India and Pakistan are responsible for this horrific rise in religious extremism and terrorism. They create or incite these terrorist incidents for their own narrow political interests. The brutal killings and terrorism in Pahelgam are no exception to this. CPB always upholds its strong position against religious extremism and terrorism.
In the statement, the leaders said that this tension and conflict must be stopped immediately for the interest of peace and security of the people of Bangladesh and the entire South Asia as well. This crisis must be resolved permanently through diplomatic efforts. This crisis cannot be used for the geopolitical interests of imperialism in any way. The CPB leaders also said that if this military tension between India and Pakistan continues, it will endanger the lives and livelihoods of the working class, the hardworking people and the peace-loving people of Bangladesh, India and Pakistan, including the entire South Asia. Therefore, a united movement of communists, left democratic progressive forces, and conscious citizens of this region must be built against this unrest.
