In a climate of deep sorrow family, friends, and comrades, both Vietnamese and Greek, bid farewell to comrade Kostas Sarantidis - Nguyen Van Lap on 29/6.

The funeral ceremony was attended by a delegation of the CC of the KKE, headed by Giorgos Marinos, member of the PB of the CC and MP, Kostas Papadakis, member of the CC and MEP, Kostas Basdekis, member of the CC, and Nikos Seretakis, member of the Section of International Relations of the CC of the KKE. The funeral ceremony was also attended by Antonis Kostadimas, member of the Bureau of the CC of KNE, Nikos Chatzikyriakos, member of the Party Organization of Petroupolis of the KKE and president of the Petroupolis Branch of the Nationwide Resistance Fighters’ Organization (PEAEA–DSE), as many other comrades of the late from the Party Organization of Petroupolis, who also held a guard of honour. The Ambassador of Vietnam to Greece, Le Hong Truong, attended the ceremony as well.

G. Marinos bid farewell to the later on behalf of the KKE, stressing that “With deep sorrow, the CC of the KKE bids farewell to comrade Kostas Sarantidis - Nguyen Van Lap. Our Party expresses its respect to the communist and internationalist who dedicated his life to the struggle for the interests of the Vietnamese and the Greek people, for the abolition of the exploitation of man by man, for socialism–communism.

The life of comrade Kostas was adventurous. It includes many life lessons for the new generations, as it requires great strength and resilience to make life decisions, to choose the path of struggle and proletarian internationalism under truly harsh conditions, to be on the side the Vietnamese people and fight to cast off the shackles of French and US imperialism, to fulfill your duty, to excel at armed struggle, and to continue to struggle in Greece through the ranks of the KKE, until the end of your life, like comrade Kostas Sarantidis did.

He was born in 1927 in Thessaloniki to refugee parents from Asia Minor. A descendant of large poor family, he started working from an early age. Towards the end of World War II, he was arrested and sent to a forced labour camp, but in the meantime Germany surrendered. In 1945 he was recruited by the French into the Foreign Legion, supposedly to fight against the Japanese in the Far East.

Arriving in Indochina in February of 1946, when he was 18 years old, he realized the role that French imperialism was playing, and seeing the injustice, he fought on the side of the Vietnamese liberation movement and joined the Viet Minh, where he developed as a fighter under the name Nguyen Van Lap.

In 1949 he became a member of the Communist Party of Vietnam. He took part in battles with the legendary 803 People's Army Regiment, shot down the first French plane, took charge of a prisoner-of-war camp, experienced sufferings together with the Vietnamese people and shared his desire and struggle for freedom. With the defeat of the French, he was demobilized with the rank of captain and lived in Vietnam until 1965, when he returned to Greece.

Upon his return to Greece, he worked at Pechiney where he contributed to the creation of the first KKE organization in the French monopoly.

In 2011 he was bestowed with the honourary Vietnamese citizenship and in 2013 he was awarded Hero of the People’s Armed Forces. He was a living link between the heroic traditions and the popular movements of our country and Vietnam.

“If I could live again, I would follow the same path.” With these words he addressed the hundreds of young men and women who participated in the great event in his honour that was co-organized by the KNE and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in the framework of the 16^th World Festival of Youth and Students in 2005, conveying his valuable militant contribution.

Comrade Kostas,

We expected to have you among us at the opening event of the 21^st Congress of our Party, but it was not possible. The Congress was held successfully, it took important decisions, and our Party continues the struggle to become the mind, the heart, and the organizer of the workers'–people's struggle for socialism.

The CC of the KKE and the CC of the KNE express their deepest condolences to his wife, his children and grandchildren, to his brothers, and all his relatives.

Коммунист, интернационалист, преданный борьбе за интересы народов

29 июня с чувством глубокой скорби семья, друзья, товарищи, вьетнамцы и греки проводили в последний путь товарища Костаса Сарантидиса - Нгуен Ван Лапа.

На траурной церемонии прощания присутствовала делегация ЦК КПГ во главе с Георгисом Мариносом, членом Политбюро ЦК КПГ и депутатом КПГ, в состав которой входили Костас Пападакис, член ЦК и депутат Европарламента, Костас Басдекис, член ЦК, Никос Серетакис, член Международного отдела ЦК КПГ. А также Антонис Костадимас, член бюро ЦС КМГ, Никос Хацикириакос, член парторганизации г.Петруполи КПГ, председатель отделения Всегреческого союза борцов национального сопротивления - Демократической армии Греции, другие товарищи из г. Петруполи, стояли в почетном карауле у гроба. На траурной церемонии также присутствовал посол Вьетнама Le Hong Truong.

 От имени КПГ с прощальной речью на траурном митинге выступил Г. Маринос, в которой он отметил: «ЦК КПГ с чувством глубокой скорби прощается с товарищем Костасом Сарантидисом, товарищем Нгуен Ван Лапом. Наша партия выражает свое уважение коммунисту, интернационалисту, посвятившему свою жизнь борьбе за интересы вьетнамского и греческого народов, за ликвидацию эксплуатации человека человеком, за социализм-коммунизм.

Жизнь товарища Костаса была полна приключений. Она является примером для молодого поколения, потому что требуется огромная сила и выносливость, чтобы принять такие решения в жизни, выбрать в очень суровых условиях путь борьбы, пролетарского интернационализма, встать на сторону вьетнамского народа и бороться за избавление его от оков французского и американского империализма,  выполнить свой долг, отличиться в вооруженной борьбе и продолжить борьбу в Греции, в рядах КПГ, до конца своей жизни, как это делал товарищ Костас Сарантидис.

Он родился в 1927 году в Салониках в семье беженцев из Малой Азии. Потомок бедной многодетной семьи, он с ранних лет вступил в борьбу за выживание. Ближе к концу Второй мировой войны он был арестован и отправлен в исправительно-трудовой лагерь, но тем временем Германия капитулировала. В 1945 году он вступает во французский Иностранный легион, миссией которого являлась якобы борьба с японцами на Дальнем Востоке.

Прибыв в Индокитай в феврале 1946 года в возрасте 18 лет, он видит несправедливость и осознает роль французского империализма. Тогда он переходит на сторону вьетнамского освободительного движения, присоединяется к войскам Вьетминя, становится бойцом по имени Нгуен Ван Лап.

В 1949 году он вступил в Коммунистическую партию Вьетнама. Участвовал в боях легендарного 803-го полка Народной армии, сбил первый французский самолет, отвечал за лагерь для военнопленных, вместе с вьетнамским народом страдал и разделял с ним страсть и борьбу за свободу. После поражения французов он ушел в отставку в звании капитана и жил во Вьетнаме до 1965 года, а затем вернулся в Грецию. 

В 2011 году ему было предоставлено почетное гражданство Вьетнама, а в 2013 году он был удостоен звания Героя Народных вооруженных сил Вьетнама. Он являлся живой связью между героическими традициями и народными движениями нашей страны и Вьетнама.

«Если бы у меня был шанс прожить свою жизнь заново, я бы снова выбрал тот же путь». С этими словами он обратился к сотням молодых людей, участвовавших в крупном мероприятии, организованном в его честь КМГ и Коммунистическим союзом молодежи «Хо Ши Мин», в рамках 16-го Всемирного фестиваля молодежи и студентов в 2005 году, передавая свой ценный опыт.

Товарищ Костас,

Мы надеялись, что ты будешь вместе с нами на мероприятии в день открытия 21 съезда партии, но не получилось. Съезд прошел успешно, на нем были приняты важные решения, и наша партия продолжает борьбу за то, чтобы стать умом, сердцем, организатором борьбы трудящихся за социализм.

ЦК КПГ и ЦС КМГ выражают глубокие соболезнования супруге, детям и внукам товарища Костаса, его братьям и всем родственникам.

Прощай,товарищ Костас, мы всегда будем помнить о тебе».

 Comunista, internacionalista, comprometido con la lucha por los intereses de los pueblos

En un clima de profunda emoción, su familia, amigos y camaradas, vietnamitas y griegos, se despidieron el 29/6 del camarada Kostas Sarantidis - Nguyen Van Lap, que falleció.

El acto político contó con la presencia de una delegación del Comité Central del KKE encabezada por Giorgos Marinos, miembro del BP del CC y diputado del Partido, Kostas Papadakis, miembro del CC y eurodiputado del Partido, Costas Basdekis, miembro del CC, Nikos Seretakis, miembro de la Sectión de RR.II del CC del KKE. Asimismo, Antonis Kostadimas del Buró del Consejo Central de la KNE, Nikos Hatzikyriakos de la Unión Panhelénica de Luchadores de la Resistencia Nacional - Ejército Democrático de Grecia (PEAEA - DSE), también como otros camaradas, que también formaron guardias honorarios en su ataúd. También estuvo presente el embajador de Vietnam, Le Hong Truong.

En nombre del KKE, G. Marinos se despidió del fallecido, destacando:

"El Comité Central del KKE se despide con gran tristeza del camarada Kostas Sarantidis, camarada Nguyen Van Lap. Nuestro Partido expresa su respeto al comunista, el internacionalista que dedicó su vida a la lucha por los intereses del pueblo vietnamita y griego, por la abolición de la explotación de hombre por hombre, por el socialismo-comunismo.

La vida del camarada Kostas fue aventurera. Contiene muchas lecciones para las nuevas generaciones, porque se necesita mucha fuerza y aguante para tomar decisiones de vida, elegir en condiciones muy duras el camino de la lucha, del internacionalismo proletario, unirse al lado del pueblo vietnamita y luchar para liberarse de los grilletes del imperialismo francés y estadounidense, para cumplir con su deber, para distinguir en la lucha armada, y para continuar la lucha en Grecia dentro las líneas del KKE, hasta el final de su vida, como lo hizo el camarada Costas Sarantidis.

Nació en 1927 en Salónica de padres refugiados de Asia Menor. Era hijo de una familia numerosa y pobre, entró en la lucha por la vida desde muy joven. Hacia el final de la Segunda Guerra Mundial fue arrestado y enviado a un campo de trabajo, pero mientras tanto Alemania capituló. En 1945 fue reclutado por los franceses en la Legión Extranjera, supuestamente para luchar contra los japoneses en el Extremo Oriente.

A la edad de 18 años, llegando a Indochina en febrero de 1946, se dio cuenta del papel del imperialismo francés y al ver la injusticia, se puso del lado del movimiento de liberación vietnamita, se unió a los Vietminh, donde se convirtió en un luchador llamado Nguyen Van Lap.

En 1949 se convirtió en miembro del Partido Comunista de Vietnam. Participó en batallas con el legendario 803 ° Regimiento del Ejército Popular, derribó el primer avión francés, se hizo cargo de un campo de prisioneros de guerra, vivió los sufrimientos del pueblo vietnamita y compartió su deseo y lucha por la libertad. Después de la derrota de los franceses se desmovilizó con el grado de capitán y vivió en Vietnam hasta 1965, cuando regresó a Grecia.

A su regreso a Grecia, trabajó en PESINÉ (fabrica de metal), donde contribuyó a la creación de la primera organización del KKE en el monopolio francés.

En 2011 recibió la ciudadanía honoraria vietnamita y en 2013 fue nombrado Héroe de las Fuerzas Armadas del Pueblo. Fue un vínculo vivo entre las tradiciones heroicas y los movimientos populares de nuestro país y Vietnam.

"Si volviera a vivir, volvería a tomar el mismo camino". Con estas palabras se dirigió a los cientos de hombres y mujeres jóvenes que participaron en el gran evento en su honor coorganizado por la KNE y la Unión de la Juventud Comunista "Ho Chi Minh" en el contexto del XVI Festival Mundial de la Juventud y los Estudiantes en 2005, transmitiendo su valiosa experiencia militante.

Camarada Kostas,

Esperábamos tenerlo con nosotros en el evento del día inaugural del XXI Congreso del Partido, pero no fue posible. El Congreso se realizó con éxito, tomó decisiones importantes y nuestro Partido continúa la lucha para convertirse en la mente, el corazón, el organizador de la lucha obrera-popular  por el socialismo.

El Comité Central del KKE y el Consejo Central de la KNE expresan su más sentido pésame a su esposa, hijos y nietos del camarada Kostas, sus hermanos y todos sus familiares.

Buen viaje, camarada Kostas, siempre te recordaremos ".
