"Cuba is not alone" - Intervention to the Petitions Committee (PETI)

The KKE Group in the European Parliament intervened in a session of the Committee on Petitions (PETI) of the European Parliament organized for the purpose of another attack against the Cuban people. 

The MEP of the Party, Lefteris Nikolaou-Alavanos, denounced the criminal US blockade against Cuba, expressed the solidarity of the KKE with the struggle of the Cuban people against the imperialist plans against them, denounced the lies spread by the EU, by several MEPs, from the extreme right to the social democrats, about the "violations of human rights" in Cuba. These statements are made for convenience and for geopolitical reasons, seeking that the EU instrumentalize the consequences of the criminal blockade. He called for an escalation of solidarity with Cuba for the immediate lifting of the blockade and all types of sanctions against it. 

His speech "annoyed" well-known anti-communist circles of the European People's Party (EPP), the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) and the Liberals (Renew), who tried unsuccessfully to interrupt him, with the provocative statement that "communist propaganda will not be tolerated in the European Parliament", even citing that it goes against.... “democratic norms”! 

Taking the floor again, the KKE MEP noted, "It once again is demonstrated that all those who supposedly defend democracy and the exchange of opinions when they cannot articulate a based counterargument resort to shouts, insults and characterizations." 

The complete speech of c. Nikolaou-Alavanos is as follows: 

"I will not refer to all the slanderous and invalid things that the deputies of the extreme right have asid, because it clearly serves as a provocation and insults the peoples of the world who stand up in support of Cuba, as well as the common sense of every sincere man and woman. 

I listened carefully to the representatives of the organization called "Cubans for Democracy". Also, the representative of the Commission/EEAS. 

They said nothing new. They repeated the well-known lies about "human rights violations" in Cuba. They distort the facts, insulting the Cuban people who continue to resist bravely for 60 years against the economic and commercial blockade imposed by the US and its allies, against natural calamities, hurricanes, serious accidents. It is the blockade that deprives the Cuban people of services and basic goods, food and medicines, and prevents Cuba's economic development. 

I am obliged to restore the truth about the facts. On July 11, 2021, a well-orchestrated interference plan took place in Cuba by the US, the anti-Cuban mafia and a few forces inside the country. 

This plan was supported by well-paid mechanisms and agencies all over the world, producing and disseminating "fake news", even using photos of demonstrations in support of the Cuban government to point out the opposite. 

It was a complementary plan to the pressure exerted against the Cuban people and government by the blockade and the more than 240 sanctions put into effect by the previous US administration and maintained by the Biden administration. The objective of the plan was to cause "chaos", destabilization, to hit Cuba's economy, to facilitate a coup d'état against the Cuban people. 

That plan met with a decisive reaction from the Cuban people, who confronted the provocative actions of the puppets of imperialism. It has been demonstrated that robberies, vandalism, sabotage and other transgressions of the Penal Code were carried out. The Cuban government has presented a multitude of evidence about the persons who led the counterrevolutionary actions, and has substantiated that they have been directed by mechanisms within the US. 

Organizations that supposedly represent "Cubans" abroad, in the U.S., like the petitioners, when they saw that the plan failed and that their false propaganda did not convince, they even called for U.S. military intervention in Cuba. 

These are the same baleful forces that during the pandemic called on the U.S. to intensify measures against Cuba, aiming at the overthrow of the achievements of the Revolution. 

Of course, Cuba, under blockade, not only faced the pandemic with its own forces and with the unconditional help of material for the peoples of the world, but also sent medical personnel to 65 countries around the world, showing heroism, humanism and internationalist solidarity. 

Everything that is said about "human rights" does not surprise us. The same unsubstantiated statements we heard by High Rep. Mr Borell, are included in the unacceptable resolutions of the parliament. These are EU positions. 

For the EU and its governments to talk about "respect for rights" is a real lack of respect. When the commercialized health systems led to real massacres. While the right to strike, to demonstrate is forbidden and police forces attack people fighting for their contemporary rights. When Communist Parties are outlawed, their cadres persecuted for their ideas. When refugees, even minors, are imprisoned, andpeople that struggle, trade unionists, are prosecuted by the authorities and placed under surveillance. 

The EU's position has geopolitical and self-interested motives. It develops its own plans at the expense of Cuba and its people, aiming to take advantage of the criminal blockade. 

But, the Cuban revolution and its gains enjoy broad popular support around the world. That is why those who took to the streets to defend Cuba were far more than the few puppets of the U.S. and its allies. Once again, from this place, we firmly declare that "Cuba is not alone" and that "in Cuba no one surrenders". Those who truly care about the rights, the needs and the concerns of the Cuban people must today demand the immediate end of the blockade, of all sanctions. Recognize the inalienable right of the Cuban people to continue on the path they have opened with their revolution, without outside interference and intervention. To strengthen solidarity with the people, the Government and the CP of Cuba. 

We believe that the petition is unacceptable, and must be closed now. It is an offense against the struggle of the Cuban people, it is used to facilitate EU intervention in Cuba's internal affairs, at the expense of its people."

“Cuba no está sola” – Intervención a la Comisión de Peticiones (PETI)

El Grupo del KKE en el Parlamento Europeo intervino en una sesión de la Comisión de Peticiones (PETI) del Parlamento Europeo organizada con el objetivo de otro ataque contra el pueblo cubano. 

El eurodiputado del Partido, Lefteris Nikolaou-Alavanos, denunció el criminal bloqueo estadounidense contra Cuba, expresó la solidaridad del KKE con la lucha del pueblo cubano contra los planes imperialistas en su contra, denunció las mentiras difundidas por la UE, por varios eurodiputados, desde la extrema derecha hasta los socialdemócratas, sobre las "violaciones de los derechos humanos" en Cuba. Estas declaraciones se hacen por conveniencia y por motivos geopolíticos, buscando que la UE instrumentalice las consecuencias del criminal bloqueo. Pidió una escalada de la solidaridad con Cuba para el inmediato levantamiento del bloqueo y de todo tipo de sanciones contra ella. 

Su discurso "molestó" a conocidos círculos anticomunistas del Partido Popular Europeo (PPE), de los Conservadores y Reformistas Europeos (ECR) y de los Liberales (Renew), que intentaron sin éxito interrumpirlo, con la provocadora afirmación de que "no se tolerará la propaganda comunista en el Parlamento Europeo", citando incluso que va en contra de... ¡las "normas democráticas"! 

Tomando de nuevo la palabra, el eurodiputado del KKE señaló: "Se demuestra una vez más que todos los que supuestamente defienden la democracia y el intercambio de opiniones cuando no pueden articular una contraargumentación con argumentos recurren a los gritos, los insultos y las caracterizaciones".

El discurso completo del c. Nikolaou-Alavanos es el siguiente: 

“No haré referencia a todo lo calumnioso y sin validez que lanzaros los diputados de la extrema derecha, porque claramente sirve de provocación e insulta a los pueblos del mundo que se alzan en apoyo a Cuba, como también al sentido común de cada mujer y hombre sinceros. 

Escuché con atención a los representantes de la organización llamada “Cubanos por la Democracia”. También, el representante de la Comisión/EEAS. 

No han dicho novedades. Repitieron las conocidas mentiras acerca de “violaciones de derechos humanos” en Cuba. Distorsionan los hechos, insultan al pueblo cubano que sigue resistiendo con valentía por 60 años contra el bloqueo económico, comercial impuesto por los EEUU y sus aliados, contra calamidades naturales, huracanes, accidentes graves. Es el bloqueo que priva al pueblo cubano de servicios y bienes básicos, de alimentos y remedios, e impide el desarrollo económico de Cuba. 

Me veo obligado a restituir la verdad sobre los hechos. El 11 de julio de 2021, tuvo lugar en Cuba un plan de injerencia bien orquestado, por parte de los EEUU, la mafia anticubana y pocas fuerzas en el interior del país. 

Ese plan se apoyó por mecanismos y agencias bien pagadas en todo el mundo, produciendo y diseminando de “fake news”, utilizando hasta fotos de manifestaciones en apoyo del gobierno cubano para señalar lo contrario. 

Fue un plan complementario a la presión ejercida contra el pueblo y el Gobierno de Cuba por el bloqueo y las más de 240 sanciones que puso en vigencia la administración anterior de los EEUU, y las mantiene la de Biden. El objetivo del plan era causar “caos”, desestabilización, golpear la economía de Cuba, facilitar un golpe de estado contra el pueblo cubano. 

Ese plan encontró la reacción decisiva del pueblo de Cuba, quien encaró las acciones provocadoras de los títeres del imperialismo. Se ha demostrado que se llevaron a cabo robos, vandalismos, sabotajes y otras transgresiones del Código Penal. El gobierno de Cuba ha presentado multitud de pruebas acerca de las personas que lideraron las acciones contrarrevolucionarias, y ha fundamentado que han sido dirigidas por mecanismos dentro de los EEUU. 

Organizaciones que supuestamente representan “cubanos” en el exterior, en los EEUU, como los peticionarios, cuando vieron que el plan fracasó y que su falsa propaganda no convence, hasta pidieron la intervención militar de los EEUU en Cuba. 

Son las mismas fuerzas funestas que durante la pandemia llamaron a los EEUU de recrudecer las medidas contra Cuba, apuntando al derrocamiento de las conquistas de la Revolución. 

Por supuesto, Cuba, bajo bloqueo, no sólo enfrentó la pandemia con sus propias fuerzas y con la ayuda incondicional de material por los pueblos del mundo, sino que envió personal médico a 65 países del mundo, mostrando heroísmo, humanismo y solidaridad internacionalista. 

Todo lo que se dice acerca de los “derechos humanos” no nos sorprende. Las mismas declaraciones no fundamentadas escuchamos por el Alto Representante s. Borell, se incluyen en las resoluciones inaceptables del parlamento. Son posiciones de la UE. 

Que la UE y sus gobiernos hablen de “respeto a derechos” es una verdadera falta de respeto. ¿Cuándo los sistemas de salud comercializados llevaron a verdaderas masacres? ¿Mientras los derechos a la huelga, a la manifestación se prohíben y las fuerzas policiales agreden a los pueblos que luchan por sus derechos contemporáneos? ¿Cuándo se ilegalizan los Partidos Comunistas, sus cuadros se persiguen por sus ideas.? ¿Cuándo se encarcelan refugiados, menores de edad incluso, mientras luchadores, sindicalistas, se procesan pro las autoridades y quedan bajo vigilancia? 

La postura de la UE tiene motivos geopolíticos y de interés propio. Ella desarrolla sus propios planes a expensas de Cuba y su pueblo, apuntando a aprovechar el bloqueo criminal. 

Pero, la revolución cubana y sus conquistas gozan de apoyo popular amplio en todo el mundo. Por eso aquellos que salieron a las calles para defender a Cuba eran muchísimo más en relación con las pocas marionetas de los EEUU y sus aliados. Una vez más, desde este lugar, declaramos con firmeza que “Cuba no está sola” y que “en Cuba no se rinde nadie”. Aquellos que de verdad les importan los derechos, las necesidades, las preocupaciones del pueblo cubano, hoy deben demandar el cese inmediato del bloqueo, de todas las sanciones. Reconocer el derecho inalienable del pueblo cubano a seguir en el camino que abrió con su revolución, sin injerencias e intervenciones ajenas. Reforzar la solidaridad con el pueblo, el Gobierno, el PC de Cuba. 

Opinamos que la petición es inaceptable, y tiene que cerrar ya. Es una ofensa contra la lucha del pueblo cubano, se utiliza para facilitar la intervención de la UE en los asuntos internos de Cuba, a expensas de su pueblo.”
