The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India issued the following statement today (on May 12, 2021) condemning the ongoing Israeli attacks on Palestine:

The Communist Party of India condemns the ongoing Israeli attacks on Palestine. Till now 26 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza strips due to Israeli air raids. The present killings started with the aim of Israel to occupy East Jerusalem by brutal storming of the Al Aqsa Mosque at a time when huge number of people were praying at the Mosque during the month of Ramadan, injuring many of them.

One Indian woman, Soumya Santhosh from Kerala has been killed in the attack.

The present escalation of the conflict may lead to grave disaster if Israeli attacks are not stopped. Though the UN has condemned the attack, it is not enough. International community should force this apartheid racist regime to come to a permanent solution to the Palestinian problems by respecting various resolutions passed by the UN.

The CPI while condemning the brutal attack expresses its unflinching support and solidarity with the people of Palestine for their just cause. The CPI calls upon the government of India to stand behind the people of Palestine respecting the long-standing position of Indian people on the Palestine question.
