CPI Condoles the Demise of Shri Ramoji Rao
The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India expresses its condolences on the sad demise of Shri Ramoji Rao.
The Eenadu group of companies’ chairman, Sri Ramoji Rao who was 88 year old, passed away today at early hours.
Almost 5 decades ago he established Eenadu Telugu newspaper which brought changes in the regional media and also established ETV three decades back.
Started 13 news channels in different languages and also ran an English newspaper for a while.
His media group had engaged thousands of journalists across India. He started his career in Delhi long back before starting the newspaper.
Ramoji Rao was a communist sympathizer and also close to the legendary communist, CPI general secretary Comrade Chandra Rajeshwar Rao.
He frequently used to come to Ajoy Bhavan when he was in Delhi at an early age.
He had emotional attachment for the CR foundation old age home at Hyderabad
Not only a media baron, Ramoji Rao was also a great entrepreneur who established various companies ranging from chit funds, food industries etc. and others.
Ramoji Rao stood for democratic and constitutional values in the country particularly during the ouster of the then chief minister of Andhra Pradesh Mr. NT Rama Rao while he was away in the USA for medical treatment.
His media house also campaigned to spread the anti-liquor movement in the united Andhra Pradesh during 90s.
Ramoji Rao was open to new thoughts and hence quickly adapted to new things and technology.
Coming from a small village of Andhra Pradesh and creating a big media house which has an impact and huge influence on the society was an inspiring story of Ramoji Rao.
