The Government and Fedecamaras will not solve the wage problem in Venezuela

Caracas, 11-14-2022 (TP Newsroom) - The Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) warned this Monday in its press conference about the proposed Labor Emergency Law that Fedecamaras is proposing with a view to legalize the practice already instituted in the country of desalarizing workers' incomes.

"The deliberations of the 16th National Congress clearly established that the solution to the socio-economic problem that the working class, the popular sectors and the people in general are going through is not in the hands of Fedecámaras or the Government; neither in the corrupt leaderships of certain trade union centrals, but it is in the hands of the clasist trade union movement that has carried out important mobilizations in defense of wages" said Perfecto Abreu Nieves, president of the PCV.

Fedecámaras is currently proposing an "Emergency Bill" and "we all know that Fedecámaras is the genuine representative of the interests of the employers in Venezuela: they are far from wanting to defend the interests of the workers", said the spokesman of the Political Bureau.

"Likewise, the Government has been applying a policy -with the approval of different sectors of the right-wing opposition- that takes away rights from Venezuelan workers. Such is the case of the salary bonus; the dollarization of the economy; the theft of social benefits and the liquidation of collective agreements", he added.

Abreu Nieves reminded that "the rescue of wages, benefits and collective agreements will only be possible with the struggle of the workers and unions movement" and made a call to the popular movement to support this struggle.

Dialogue does not address the problems of the people

For the PCV, the dialogue that the Government has held so far with the right-wing opposition "has not served to solve the problems of our people".

The results of the dialogues in Mexico was the so-called "Anti-Blockade Law", which is nothing more than an instrument "to violate the National Constitution" and give guarantees "in favor of big capital".

The continuity of this dialogue, recently announced from France, "is a new attempt of these actors to agree on the distribution of the wealth of our country", pointed out Abreu Nieves.

PCV joins the campaign "Christmas without imprisoned workers".

The PCV announced this Monday its participation in the "Christmas Without Workers in Prison" campaign organized by the Committee of Relatives and Friends of the Workers unjustly detained for fighting for labor demands or denouncing corruption and irregularities in their workplaces.

Last Friday, November 11, the launching of this initiative took place for the second consecutive year with a forum in which the Secretary General of the PCV, Oscar Figuera, intervened to present the legal framework that is being used to criminalize and prosecute workers.

Also participating were the President of the National Union of Workers of the UCV, Eduardo Sánchez; activist Thaís Rodríguez and the mother of the unjustly prosecuted air traffic controller Guillermo González.

"We call on all popular organizations and intellectuals to join this campaign; we also call on the institutions of the judicial system, to take measures so that in the face of the injustices of which these workers have been victims, they will be released as soon as possible," said Abreu Nieves.

Solidarity with the peasant communities affected by the rains

The PCV expressed its solidarity with the peasant communities and the general population of the south of the lake, in the Bolívar and Tucaní municipalities of the state of Mérida, severely affected by the rains.

Regarding the tragedies caused by natural phenomena in our country, the Red Rooster Party stated that Venezuela's speech at the United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP 27) held in Egypt, contrasts with the domestic policy in areas such as the Guayana Mining Arc or the carbon exploitation area in Zulia.

In the first case "waters are contaminated with mercury; indiscriminate felling of trees and destruction of soils, as has been denounced by environmental organizations and personalities" while in the second "there has even been the murder of indigenous leaders".
