PCV Defends All Types of Struggle, Including Armed Struggle

The Communist Party of Venezuela fixed its position about the recent events in Colombia this week. Carlos Aquino, spokesman for the Political Bureau, said “… We want to express on behalf of the PCV our position regarding the recent announcement of the commanders of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia — People's Army (FARC-EP) regarding the decision to return to the arms in face of the breach of the Havana peace agreement by Colombian state. First of all, the PCV defends people's universal right to armed rebellion; a right that does not depend on the desire or will of the revolutionaries, but depends on the concrete and objective conditions of struggle in said country.” He also recalled that in Colombia, since the signing of the peace agreement, more than 500 leaders from popular or human rights movements and 150 ex-guerrilla fighters have been killed, in addition to multiple exmples of persecution and limitation over the peaceful and legal struggles that the revolutionary movement tries to develop in Colombia by the State and the armed forces.

Similarly, the Political Bureau of the PCV has transmitted its recognition and solidarity of the different forms of struggle and actions to the different revolutionary and anti-imperialist forces of Colombia, which look for the conquest of the longed peace and the construction of a new society.

Revolutionary policies in the face of the capitalist crisis and imperialist aggression.

The Communist Party of Venezuela reiterated its call to the National Government to implement a revolutionary policy to deal with the capitalist crisis and imperialist aggression. For the PCV, it is considered essential the adoption of measures that allow an increase in the protagonism of the workers in the decision-making and helm of the Bolivarian process.

The PCV fixes position regarding the serious situation of the deterioration of workers' wages. In this regard Aquino expressed: “We remember how a year ago the national executive stated that the minimum wage would be equivalent to half a Petro - (the reference price of one (1) Petro was established at the equivalent of the price of one (1) barrel of oil set at $60) - over a year, that has not been fulfilled, and we also have to say, that even if it had been fulfilled, it would not be a sufficient salary, because it is not enough to cover all the basic needs of the workers and their families ”.

On the salary issue, the PCV claims that the government must fulfill what is established by the republic's constitution: “We workers must receive a salary that covers the basic food basket” he said. This also implies taking measures to decrease the high cost of living. The PCV's political bureau questioned the inaction of the government, that in the face of the incessant increase in the prices of the goods and service, capitalists and left free to detract on the wage income of the workers.

The PCV-PB demanded measures to control the prices of goods and the adoption of control mechanisms from the central government, with prominence for the workers and popular forces, making it possible to respect the policy of setting the maximum price to the consumer of the goods.

Permanent mobilization against the regressive labor policies.

Finally, the PCV ruled against the advancement of anti-worker and anti-union actions taken by the Ministry of Labor. In this regard, Aquino said: “We call on President Nicolás Maduro to put an end to the situation that has been taking place in the Ministry of Labor, with officials who act blatantly in favor of private companies and the bourgeoisie. ” The PCV insists that the national Government must cancel the guidelines approved by the Ministry of Labor last October, which pushed back important rights in the collective bargaining of the workers.

The PCV will maintain and intensify the actions of struggle and protest alongside the workers in the defense of their rights and against regressive labor policies.
