Dear comrades:

One of the many painful events experienced by the Chilean people during the terrible years of the dictatorship - which was imposed by the US government with the support of the Armed Forces and the most reactionary economic and political sectors of our country - was without doubts, the arrest, the disappearance and the brutal murders of  thousand of our compatriots.

Among many and many, in that situation of disappeared there were also dozens of prisoners who had remained since the same month of September 1973 in the concentration camp located in the city of Pisagua, in northern Chile.

Surrounded by hills 400 meters high and smooth slopes, and more than 80 kilometers of desert, Pisagua is a natural prison that the repressive governments of Carlos Ibáñez del Campo and Gabriel González Videla had used before as a concentration camp. But this time (1973) the conditions of the prisoners there were much direr. There, brutal torture was committed and many of the prisoners were killed and their remains were tried to make them disappear forever.

Today, June 2, exactly 30 years ago, a hidden Common Trench was discovered located in the surroundings of Pisagua. The bodies of our compatriots were buried there, including leaders and militants of our Party who were missing for years.

On the occasion of this anniversary, a delegation from the central committee of our Party has traveled to Pisagua in order to participate in the commemoration of this tragic event, which, due to its historical importance, allows us to inform our brother Parties.

A los Partidos hermanos:

Uno de los tantos acontecimientos dolorosos vividos por el pueblo chileno en los años terribles de la dictadura - que fuera impuesta por el gobierno de los EE.UU. con el apoyo de las Fuerzas Armadas y de los sectores económicos y políticos más reaccionarios de nuestro país - fue sin duda la desaparición de muchos centenares de compatriotas y el asesinato de miles.

Entre tantas y tantos, en esa situación de desaparecidos se encontraban también decenas de prisioneros que habían permanecido desde el mismo mes de septiembre de 1973 en el campo de concentración ubicado en la ciudad de Pisagua, en el norte de Chile.

Rodeada por cerros de 400 metros de altura y pendientes lisas, y por más de 80 kilómetros de desierto, Pisagua es una cárcel natural que ya antes habían utilizado los gobiernos represores de Carlos Ibáñez del Campo y de Gabriel González Videla. Pero esta vez las condiciones de los prisioneros fueron mucho más terribles. Allí se cometieron torturas brutales y fueron asesinados muchos de los prisioneros cuyos restos se intentó hacer desaparecer para siempre.

Hoy, 2 de junio, hace exactamente 30 años, fue descubierta una oculta Fosa Común ubicada en los alrededores de Pisagua. Allí estaban sepultados los cadáveres de nuestros compatriotas, incluidos dirigentes y militantes de nuestro Partido que estuvieron desaparecidos durante años

Con motivo de este aniversario se ha trasladado al lugar una delegación de la Dirección de nuestro Partido a fin de participar en el acto conmemorativo del hallazgo, lo que, por su importancia histórica, nos permitimos informar a nuestros Partidos hermanos.

Одно из многих болезненных событий, пережитых чилийским народом в ужасные годы диктатуры, -которой было навязано правительством США при поддержке Вооруженных сил и наиболее реакционных экономических и политических секторов нашей страны,- несомненно было исчезновение многих сотен соотечественников и тысяча убийств.

Среди многого и многих в этой ситуации, было также исчезновение десяток заключенных, которые с сентября 1973 года оставались в концентрационном лагере в городе Писагуа, на севере Чили.

В окружении холмов высотой 400 метров и ровных склонов и более 80 километров пустынь, Писагуа является естественной тюрьмой, которую ранее использовали репрессивные правительства Карлоса Ибаньеса дель Кампо и Габриэля Гонсалеса Видела. Но на этот раз условия содержания заключенных были гораздо более тяжелыми. Там были применены жестокие пытки, останки которых пытались скрыть навсегда.

Сегодня, 2 июня, ровно 30 лет назад, в окрестностях Писагуа был обнаруженa oбщая могила. Там были похоронены тела наших соотечественников, в том числе руководители и члены нашей партии, которые считались пропавшими без вести в течение многих лет.

По случаю этой годовщины делегация Руковотства нашей партии посетила это место чтобы принять участие в этом памятном событии, которое, в силу своей исторической важности, позволяет нам проинформировать наших братских партии.
