PKP-1930 CONDEMNS TRUMP's NEW EXECUTIVE ORDER AGAINST VENEZUELA

The Partido Komunista ng Pilipinas (PKP-1930, the Philippine Communist Party) condemns Donald Trump's new executive order of August 05, 2019, imposing additional US economic sanctions on Venezuela, totally freezing Venezuela's assets in the USA, and authorizing sanctions on third parties that do business with Venezuela. 

Apparently distressed at the continued frustration of the US-directed attempts at a coup d'etat against the Bolivarian government, and at the notorious failure of the Guaido quislings to get any considerable support within Venezuela, Trump has decided to ratchet-up the criminal US economic, financial and commercial blockade against the Venezuelan people, as well as the imperialist war rhetoric against Venezuela. 

The new sanctions threaten Venezuela's commercial dealings with other countries, as well as the theft of Venezuela's international reserves, international bank accounts and Venezuelan companies outside its territory, similar to the case of Citgo (the US subsidiary of Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A., or PDVSA) which the Trump regime illegally seized. 

Trump's new diktat involves blocking the acquisition and supply of basic goods in the field of food and health, the acquisition of goods and supplies necessary for the production and provision of essential social services, and the sale of Venezuelan oil in the international market, among others. It also involves the extra-territorial prohibition upon third countries and companies from trading with Venezuela, threatening these third parties with economic sanctions also. This is designed to cause a real humanitarian crisis in Venezuela, and is a genocidal policy against the entire Venezuelan people. Clearly, this is aggression, this is terrorism. 

The blockade is accompanied by a campaign that threatens military intervention in Venezuela, starting with actions such as the violation of Venezuelan airspace by spy planes. This threat of military intervention is placing the peace of all of Latin America at risk. A military aggression against Venezuela would have unimaginable consequences within and outside that continent, and even the stability of the world's oil market will also be at risk. 

 Trump's strengthening of the blockade against the Venezuelan government will only deepen the suffering of the Venezuelan people, and will not contribute to a peaceful solution to the internal conflict. Trump's new executive order obstructs the dialogue in Barbados, mediated by Norway, between the legitimate government of President Nicolás Maduro Moros and the opposition, that seeks a political and independent exit to the crisis caused by the fascist right and imperialist interference. 

The criminal blockade against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela violates international law and the Charter of the United Nations. It shows, once again, the brazen character of US imperialism that, in its eagerness to dominate the world and appropriate the strategic resources of the people, threatens Venezuelan sovereignty and independence, and the Venezuelan people's very subsistence and development. 

 Trump's new coercive and illegal executive order is an additional step in the continuing aggression, robbery and unconventional war that imperialism had launched against the Venezuelan people and government. As communists, we condemn this new aggression of US imperialism, and send our solidarity to the Venezuelan government and people who are struggling  to advance and deepen their Bolivarian Revolution towards socialism, based on their independence and sovereignty, without bowing to imperialist interests and dictates. 

We are confident that Venezuela's anti-imperialist civil-military unity, encompassing  all patriotic, democratic and revolutionary organisations, will continue to strengthen the Venezuelan Anti-imperialist and Anti-fascist Popular Front in defence of the Bolivarian Revolution.
