On the occasion of the Day of Global Action in Solidarity with Venezuela and the struggle of the Venezuelan people, the Portuguese Communist Party denounces and strongly condemns the on-going operation of concentration of vast US military resources close to Venezuela, which constitutes not only an unacceptable act of intimidation, but is a clear indication of readiness for a possible military intervention by US imperialism and its subjects against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Venezuelan people.
It is particularly disturbing that – at a time when the Venezuelan government mobilizes efforts and means to prevent and effectively combat the covid-19 outbreak, defending the health of the Venezuelan people – the Trump administration choses to threaten with direct military aggression and intensify the criminal sanctions and economic and financial blockade, which so many trials and difficulties have imposed on the Venezuelan people and the Portuguese community living in that Latin American country.
The US's destabilizing and aggressive spiral, cynically preceded by the Trump administration's proclamation of an infamous "transition plan for Venezuela," aims to crush the firm and courageous resistance of the Venezuelan people in defense of their homeland, and to impose a puppet government that will give US imperialism free reign to appropriate Venezuela's immense natural resources.
PCP calls for the demand for an immediate end to interference, sanctions and economic blockade and military threats against Venezuela and for strengthening of solidarity in defense of Bolivarian Venezuela and the right of the Venezuelan people to determine their present and future with freedom and in peace.
PCP urges the Portuguese government to stop following the US policy against Venezuela in defiance of international law, and to base its foreign policy upon the values of sovereignty and national independence, peace and cooperation, as enshrined in the Constitution of the Portuguese Republic and is in the interest of the Portuguese people, including the Portuguese community in Venezuela.
PCP reaffirms its solidarity with the Venezuelan people, the PCV, the PSUV and all the Venezuelan patriotic, progressive and revolutionary forces, and their struggle in defense of peace, development, social justice and progress, and the sovereignty and national independence of Venezuela.

Não à intervenção militar dos EUA! Solidariedade com a Venezuela e o povo venezuelano!

Por ocasião do Dia de Acção Mundial de Solidariedade com a Venezuela e a luta do povo venezuelano, o Partido Comunista Português denuncia e condena a operação em curso de concentração de vastos meios militares dos EUA próximo da Venezuela, o que constitui não só um inaceitável acto de intimidação, como um claro indício da preparação de uma eventual intervenção militar do imperialismo norte-americano, e seus serventuários, contra a República Bolivariana da Venezuela e o povo venezuelano.
É especialmente inquietante que – num momento em que o Governo venezuelano mobiliza esforços e meios para prevenir e combater eficazmente o surto de covid-19, defendendo a saúde do povo venezuelano – a Administração Trump opte pela ameaça da agressão militar directa e pela intensificação das criminosas sanções e bloqueio económico e financeiro, que tantas provações e dificuldades têm imposto ao povo venezuelano e à comunidade portuguesa que vive naquele país latino-americano.
A espiral desestabilizadora e agressiva dos EUA, cinicamente antecedida da proclamação pela Administração Trump de um infame “plano de transição para a Venezuela”, visa vergar a firme e corajosa resistência do povo venezuelano em defesa da sua pátria, e impor um governo fantoche que deixe as mãos livres ao imperialismo norte-americano para se reapropriar dos imensos recursos naturais da Venezuela.
O PCP apela à expressão da exigência do fim imediato da ingerência, das sanções e bloqueio económico e das ameaças militares contra a Venezuela e ao fortalecimento da solidariedade em defesa da Venezuela Bolivariana e do direito do povo venezuelano a determinar livremente e em paz o seu presente e futuro.
O PCP insta o Governo português a abandonar uma postura seguidista da política de afronta ao direito internacional levada a cabo pelos EUA contra a Venezuela, e a pautar a sua política externa pelos valores da soberania e da independência nacional, da paz e da cooperação, como consagra a Constituição da República Portuguesa e é do interesse do povo português, incluindo da comunidade portuguesa na Venezuela.
O PCP reafirma a sua solidariedade para com o povo venezuelano, o PCV, o PSUV e o conjunto das forças patrióticas, progressistas e revolucionárias venezuelanas, e a sua luta em defesa da paz, do desenvolvimento, da justiça e progresso sociais, da soberania e independência nacional da Venezuela.
