The insulting charges launched by the Trump Administration against President Nicolás Maduro, leaders and senior officials of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, using slanderously alleged issues linked to drug trafficking, constitute a new ignoble act that, while revealing the failure of previous destabilising operations, is part of the policy of interference and aggression which, in violation of the most elementary riles of international law, aimed at overthrowing the legitimate Venezuelan government. 

The PCP denounces and condemns in the strongest terms this new putschist provocation by US imperialism against the sovereignty of Venezuela and the rights of its people, which takes place, precisely, when humanity faces the challenges posed by the serious pandemic of Covid-19. 

It should be stressed, in the present circumstances, that the United States, instead of opting to promote cooperation and mutual assistance at the international level, take advantage of the current situation to intensify an intolerable agenda aimed at destabilising and reinforcing illegal and arbitrary measures and sanctions against sovereign countries. . 

With regard to Venezuela, the objectives of the United States have long been clear: to consummate the “operation of regime change” initiated with the attempts of a coup d'état and the triggering of an economic war and the imposition of an illegal and inhumane blockade, which affects the people of Venezuela and the Portuguese community residing there; to defeat the liberating experience and popular achievements of the Bolivarian Revolution; to install a puppet government at its service and appropriate the vast natural wealth existing in this South American country. 

The current escalation of interference and aggression against Venezuela must be widely condemned at the international level. The PCP urges the Portuguese government to take a stand that, in accordance with the Constitution of the Portuguese Republic and International Law, is guided by unequivocal respect for the sovereignty and independence of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the rejection of the interference and destabilisation campaign conducted by the US. 

The PCP reaffirms its solidarity with the Bolivarian forces and the Venezuelan people and their struggle in defence of the Bolivarian Revolution and the sovereignty of their homeland.

 PCP condena a nova provocação golpista dos EUA contra a Venezuela

As insultuosas acusações lançadas pela Administração Trump contra o Presidente Nicolás Maduro, dirigentes e altos-funcionários da República Bolivariana da Venezuela, usando caluniosamente alegadas questões ligadas a tráfico de droga, constituem um novo acto ignóbil que, ao mesmo tempo que revela o fracasso de anteriores operações desestabilizadoras, se insere na política de ingerência e agressão que, violando as mais elementares normas do direito internacional, visa derrubar o legítimo governo venezuelano. 

O PCP denuncia e condena nos termos mais firmes esta nova provocação golpista do imperialismo norte-americano contra a soberania da Venezuela e os direitos do seu povo, que acontece, precisamente, quando a humanidade enfrenta os desafios colocados pela grave pandemia do Covid-19. 

Cabe salientar, nas presentes circunstâncias, que os EUA ao invés de optarem pela promoção da cooperação e entreajuda no plano internacional, aproveitem a presente situação para intensificar uma intolerável agenda virada para a desestabilização e o reforço de medidas e sanções ilegais e arbitrárias contra países soberanos. 

No tocante à Venezuela, desde há muito, os objectivos dos EUA são claros: consumar a “operação de mudança de regime” iniciada com as tentativas de golpe de Estado e o desencadear da guerra económica e imposição de um bloqueio ilegal e desumano, que atinge o povo da Venezuela e a comunidade portuguesa aí residente; derrotar a experiência libertadora e conquistas populares da Revolução bolivariana; instalar um governo fantoche ao seu serviço e apropriar-se das vastas riquezas naturais existentes neste país sul-americano. 

A presente escalada de ingerência e agressão contra a Venezuela deve ser amplamente condenada no plano internacional. O PCP insta o Governo português a assumir uma postura que, em conformidade com a Constituição da República Portuguesa e o Direito Internacional, se paute pelo inequívoco respeito da soberania e independência da República Bolivariana da Venezuela e a rejeição da campanha de ingerência e desestabilização dirigida pelos EUA. 

O PCP reafirma a sua solidariedade às forças bolivarianas e ao povo venezuelano e à sua luta em defesa da Revolução bolivariana e da soberania da sua pátria.
