SACP strongly condemns the United States’ military attacks on Iran
Tuesday, 24 June 2025; The South African Communist Party (SACP) strongly condemns the United States’ military attacks on Iran, launched on Sunday, 22 June 2025. We reiterate our solidarity with the people of Iran and the entire axis of resistance to imperialism, Zionism and its genocidal campaigns in the Middle East. The SACP appreciates the imperative and rights of all those facing imperialist and Zionist aggression to defend themselves.
As always, automatically on the apartheid Israeli settler regime’s side, the attacks by the United States on Iran undermine the United Nations, global multilateralism, peace and justice. This can only lead to disastrous outcomes, as history has shown in numerous previous situations, and must be stopped with immediate effect.
Israel’s latest attack on Iran comes as the leaders of the apartheid Israeli settler regime continue their genocide against the Palestinian people, having already killed at least 55,000, injured close to 27,000 and obliterated homes, hospitals, water systems, schools, roads and other critical infrastructure since 7 October 2023. The SACP condemns these actions of extermination, which expose the Zionist colonialists as a threat not only to Palestine and Iran but to humanity.
Donald Trump, president of the imperialist United States regime, was unashamedly boastful following his administration’s military aggression against Iran in Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan. Meanwhile, like Israel, the imperialist United States regime has no right whatsoever to violate other peoples’ human rights, fundamental right to self-determination and sovereignty, among others.
In condemning attacks on Iran and genocide on the Palestinian people by Israel, on 14 June 2025, the SACP appealed to the international community not to be silent in the face of the warmongering United States-backed apartheid Israeli settler regime but to condemn the violations. The SACP reiterates this same call against the United States’ militarism, unilateralism and violations of others’ rights.
