-Intensification of mass action against military rule,

-Mass demonstrations demand an end to military dictatorship and the establishment of a civil democratic rule,

-The dictatorial regime continues its brutality, with over 200 seriously wounded during mass action on the 17th and 18th of March,

-A mass rally by the SCP in Omdurman was attacked by the regime’s thugs using tear gas and knives.

Dear Comrades,

-Sudan continues to witness further intensification of mass protest action against military rule. While the main demand of protests remains the complete transfer of power to a democratic civilian government; protestors have marched against the economic policies dictated by the IMF and the World Bank as well as the growing repression and abrogation of democratic rights and civil  liberties. Demands for the release of political detainees is also a focus by the protesters.

- While mass action continues unabated since the coup on October 25, 2021, it is noted that the regime has failed, thus far, to rally internal support and has resorted to brutal and excessive repression, killing over 90 martyrs and injuring over 2000 protesters. These heavy handed repressive measures included torture, rape, larceny, attacks on hospitals and preventing medical staff from performing their duties, and detaining wounded patients.

-Yesterday Friday the 18th, regime thugs and militias attacked an SCP mass rally in Omdurman using tear gas and knives resulting in the injury of scores of those attending the rally.

-The continued broad mass actions have created cracks in the regime and contributed to its further isolation. Growing numbers of the population are joining the protest movements. The main forces of the opposition, the SCP, the Resistance Committees, and the Professional Alliance are redoubling their efforts to agree on a platform and a program that charts the path toward a democratic future for the country, and to establish the unified centre to lead popular mass action toward wrenching political power.

-On the other hand, international and regional powers are working hand-in-hand with local reaction, including sections of the military, to impose a settlement that increases the role of civilians while maintaining the essential repressive and parasitic character of the regime.

-The SCP calls on all communist and workers parties to further increase their solidarity actions with the struggle of the Sudanese to topple the dictatorship and establish civil democratic rule that leads the country toward the completion of the tasks of the transitional period.

Long live International Solidarity,

Victory for the peoples’ struggles.
