Excerpts of the Statement of the Central Committee of the Tudeh Party of Iran on the occasion of May 1^st, International Workers' Day!

Workers, working people, pensioners, students, youths… Let’s act hand in hand to rid the homeland of the oppression and injustice of the ruling autocratic and anti-people regime! 

Greetings upon the centenary of the inaugural May 1^st celebration in Iran!

Workers and working people of Iran,

The Central Committee of the Tudeh Party of Iran sincerely greets you on the occasion ofMay 1^st, International Workers' Day. The past year has been the difficult year of the coronavirus pandemic, the death of more than three million people around the world- the majority of whom were drawn from the working people and marginalised classes- and the exacerbation of back-breaking economic pressures on workers and working people. In the past year, as the world's giant capitalist corporations added billions of dollars to their wealth, the vast gulf between poverty and wealth increasingly widened day by day. Absolute poverty and the lack of access to jobs, housing, health and education, along with the catastrophic destruction of the environment, are the result of the domination by global monopoly capitalism. Yet capitalist theorists and advocates are trying to tout this regressive and inhumane system as the only realistic path to the development of human society...

[Against this backdrop,] May Day and its marking underscore the need to continue the struggle of the world's workers and working people against the global capitalist system, and especially monopoly capitalism - which, despite all the ups and downs, has dominated the world for more than a century... Every year since July 1889, despite the opposition and obstructions placed by capitalism, the anniversary of this labour movement has been celebrated and continues to be celebrated with the theme of global solidarity of the workers of all countries...

Workers and working people of Iran,

The [current Iranian] year 1400 coincides with the 100^th anniversary of the first celebration of International Workers' Day in our country. The first gathering on the occasion of the International Workers’ Day in Iran was held on the initiative of communists in 1921... Following the founding of the Tudeh Party of Iran, the struggle of the working class gained a new quality and momentum... The role of workers and working people in the most important developments of our homeland's contemporary history - from the popular movement for the nationalisation of the oil industry [in the 1950s], to participation in the battles of the glorious Revolution of February 1979, and the struggle against the current anti-worker theocratic regime of Iran for almost four decades - demonstrate the vital importance of the struggle of the Iranian working class and working people in improving the sociopolitical condition of our country. The Tudeh Party of Iran has always emphasised that without the strong and organised presence of the working class in the arena of the general struggle of the people of Iran against the ruling authoritarian and anti-people regime, the realisation of the popular movement's demands for the people to decide their own destiny would be nothing but a dream...

Workers and working people of Iran,

The past year was the excruciating and terrible year of the coronavirus pandemic in our country. Because of the theocratic regime's disastrous and irresponsible policies, the pandemic has already cost tens of thousands of lives and the infection of more than 2.5 million citizens with COVID-19. The significant economic recession in the country, the closure of hundreds of manufacturing units, the unemployment of millions- especially among the country's younger population, the inhumane sanctions of US imperialism, pervasive corruption across the regime’s institutions, the mafia-like domination of the economy by the IRGC and the regime's leaders, along with the widespread and increasing oppression of the regime against citizens, have collectively brought about devastating conditions for the overwhelming majority of Iranian people, and render society ever the more volatile day by day.

The past year, as in recent years, witnessed your conscious, consistent, and growing struggle against the anti-worker theocratic regime of Iran... The anti-worker and repressive policies enforced in recent years demonstrate the nature of a state and regime that represents the country's mercantile grand-capital and bureaucratic and rentier capitalism, whose class interests are in antagonistic contradiction to those of the nation's workers and working people. Currently, dozens of activists and leaders of legal labour organisations in the country languish in prison... In recent years, workers and trade union rights activists in the country, while protesting against the regime's anti-labour policies, have also voiced their opposition to the regime's calculated efforts to revise the labour law [in favour of the ruling classes] and have demanded the rights of trade unions be implemented based on the ILO's fundamental Conventions- particularly Conventions 87 and 98, which govern trade union rights and freedoms, and the right to assemble and strike.

Workers, working people, pensioners, students, and youths,

Not only for the overwhelming majority of you, but also for a large part of the ruling regime, the fact has become abundantly clear that in addition to the deep crippling economic crisis facing the country, the ruling theocratic regime is also struggling in a massive and profound crisis of ideological-political bankruptcy. By reopening the way for negotiations with the United States and bringing people to the polls for the June 2021 presidential elections, the Islamist regime in Iran is working to consolidate its weakened foundations and gain some kind of popularapproval and legitimacy. A number of regime leaders do not deny the fact that wereit not for the extraordinary situation in the country owing to the coronavirus pandemic, it is possible that –similar to the events of January 2018 and November 2019 in hundreds of cities across the country- people would have broadly risen against the oppression and tyranny of the dark-minded and anti-people theocratic regime...

In the course of the current popular movement, with the cooperation and planned united action of the workers and working people of the nation, the collapse of the current despotic theocratic regime will undoubtedly take place. We have to be prepared for this fight...

The Tudeh Party of Iran, the party that fights for the interests of the working class and the working people of Iran, based on its socio-political nature has always been fighting throughout its nearly 80 years of struggle alongside you, and will continue to do so.

On the eve of International Workers' Day, the day of solidarity of all workers around the world, in concert with the global trade-union movement, let’s demand the following:

• Job security and decent wages and benefits for all working people,
• Elimination of discrimination against female workers who suffer from double oppression,
• Freedom of trade union activity and the right to association in independent trade unions,
• An immediate end to the prosecution, imprisonment, and oppression of trade union activists,
• The immediate and unconditional release of all political prisoners,
• Continuation of the striving for international peace,progress and solidarity, and…
• A world free from exploitation.

Let's join and redouble our efforts to organise and fight the united ranks of the reaction, tyranny, and regression, in a broad anti-dictatorship front - and, by rejecting the current theocratic regime, pave the way for democracy, democratic freedoms, and social justice. The history of nearly a century of heroic struggle by Iran's working class promises the eventual and undoubtable victory of the people against the reaction and tyranny.

اعلامیۀ کمیتۀ مرکزی حزب تودۀ ایران به مناسبت اول ماه روز جهانی کارگر! کارگران، زحمتکشان، بازنشستگان، دانشجویان، جوانان، دست در دست هم برای رهایی میهن از ستم و بی‌عدالتی رژیم استبدادی و ضدمردمی حاکم بکوشیم! خجسته باد صدمین سالگرد برگزاری جشن اول ماه مه در ایران!

کارگران و زحمتکشان ایران!
کمیتهٔ مرکزی حزب تودهٔ ایران فرارسیدن ۱۱ اردیبهشت، اوّل ماه مه، روز جهانی کارگر را به شما صمیمانه شادباش می‌گوید. سالی که گذشت سالِ دشوارِ شیوع همگانی ویروس کرونا، نابودی بیش از سه میلیون انسان در جهان که اکثریّت آنها از طبقات زحمتکش و محروم بودند، و تشدید فشارهای کمرشکن اقتصادی بر گُردۀ کارگران و زحمتکشان در سراسر جهان بود. در سالی که گذشت، در حالی که شرکت‌های غول‌پیکر سرمایه‌داری جهان میلیاردها دلار به ثروت خود افزودند، درّۀ عظیم میان فقر و ثروت هر روز ابعاد گسترده‌تری یافت. فقر مطلق و عدم دسترسی صدها میلیون انسان به کار، مَسکن، بهداشت و آموزش، در کنار نابودی فاجعه‌آمیز محیط‌زیست، حاصلِ حاکمیّت سرمایه‌داری انحصاری جهانی است. با وجود این، نظریه‌پردازان و مدافعان سرمایه‌داری تلاش دارند این نظام واپس‌گرا و ضدانسانی را یگانه راه واقع‌گرایانهٔ تحوّل جامعهٔ بشری نشان بدهند...
بزرگداشت اوّل ماه مه در چنین شرایطی، تأکید بر ضرورت ادامهٔ مبارزهٔ کارگران و زحمتکشان جهان بر ضد نظام سرمایه‌داری جهانی، و به‌ویژه سرمایه‌داری انحصاری است که با وجود همهٔ فراز و نشیب‌ها، بیش از یک سده است بر جهان حاکم است... از ژوییه ۱۸۸۹ تا کنون، با وجود مخالفت‌ها و ممانعت‌های سرمایه‌داری، همه‌ساله سالروز این حرکت کارگریِ به خون کشیده شده، با مضمون اعلام همبستگی جهانی زحمتکشان همهٔ کشورها، در سراسر جهان بزرگ داشته شده است و همچنان گرامی داشته می‌شود.
 
کارگران و زحمتکشان ایران!
سال ۱۴۰۰ مصادف با صدمین سالگرد برگزاری روز جهانی کارگر در کشور ما است. نخستین گردهمایی روز جهانی کارگر در ایران، به‌ابتکار کمونیست‌ها در سال ۱۳۰۰ خورشیدی برگزار شد... در پی تأسیس حزب تودهٔ ایران، مبارزهٔ طبقهٔ کارگر کیفیّت نوینی پیدا کرد... نقش مبارزهٔ کارگران و زحمتکشان در مهم‌ترین تحوّل‌های دوران‌ساز تاریخ معاصر میهن ما، از جنبش مردمی ملّی شدن صنعت نفت، تا حضور در سنگرهای نبرد انقلاب شکوهمند بهمن ۵۷ و مبارزه با رژیم کارگرستیز ولایت‌فقیه در نزدیک به چهار دههٔ اخیر، نشانگر اهمیّت حیاتی مبارزهٔ طبقهٔ کارگر ایران و زحمتکشان در راه بهبود وضعیّت سیاسی-اجتماعی کشورمان است. حزب تودۀ ایران همواره تأکید کرده است که اکنون نیز بدون حضور نیرومند و سازمان‌یافتهٔ طبقهٔ کارگر در عرصهٔ مبارزهٔ عمومی بر ضد حکومت استبدادی و ضدمردمی حاکم، نمی‌توان به تحقّق خواست‌های جنبش مردمی در راستای حاکم شدن مردم بر سرنوشت خود خوش‌بین بود.

کارگران و زحمتکشان!
سالی که گذشت سال پُردرد و فاجعه‌بار همه‌گیری ویروس کرونا در میهن ما بود. به دلیل سیاست‌های فاجعه‌بار و نابخردانهٔ رژیم ولایت‌فقیه، این همه‌گیری تا کنون به قیمت جان ده‌ها هزار تن و ابتلای بیش از دو و نیم‌میلیون تن از هم‌میهنان ما به بیماری کووید-۱۹ تمام شده است. رکود چشمگیر اقتصادی کشور، بسته شدن صدها واحد تولیدی، بیکاری میلیونی- به‌ویژه در میان نسل جوان کشور- تحریم‌های ضدانسانی امپریالیسم آمریکا، فساد فراگیر در سراسر نهاد‌های حکومتی و سلطهٔ مافیایی سپاه پاسداران و سران رژیم بر اقتصاد کشور، در کنار تعدّی و ظلم گسترده و فزایندهٔ حکومت بر ضد شهروندان، در مجموع شرایط بسیار طاقت‌فرسایی را برای اکثریّت قاطع مردم میهن ما به وجود آورده است که جامعه را هر روز و بیش‌ازپیش به انفجارهای بزرگ نزدیک‌تر می‌کند.
سالی که گذشت نیز همچون سال‌های اخیر، شاهدِ گویایی از مبارزهٔ آگاهانه، پیگیر، و فزایندۀ شما بر ضد رژیم کارگرستیز ولایت‌فقیه بود... سیاست‌های کارگرستیز و سرکوبگرانهٔ اعمال شده در سال‌های اخیر نشانگر ماهیّت دولت و حاکمیّتی است که نمایندهٔ کلان‌سرمایه‌داری تجاری و سرمایه‌داری دیوان‌سالار و رانتی کشور است و منافع طبقاتی‌اش در تضاد آشتی‌ناپذیر با منافع کارگران و زحمتکشان کشور است. در حال حاضر ده‌ها فعّال و رهبر تشکّل‌های کارگری قانونی در کشور، بر اساس حکم‌های طولانی‌مدّتِ قضایی در زندان‌های رژیم به‌سر می‌برند. کارگران و فعّالان حقوق سندیکایی در کشور، در سال‌های اخیر، ضمن دست زدن به اعتراض‌های گسترده بر ضد سیاست‌های ضدکارگری رژیم، مخالفت خود‌شان را با تلاش‌های حساب‌شدهٔ رژیم برای تغییر دادن قانون کار نیز اعلام کرده‌اند، و رعایت حقوق سندیکایی بر مبنای مقاوله‌نامه‌های بنیادین سازمان بین‌المللی کار- به‌ویژه مقاوله‌نامه‌های ۸۷ و ۹۸ را که ناظر بر حقوق و آزادی‌های سندیکایی و حق اعتصاب و اجتماع است، خواستار شده‌اند.

کارگران، زحمتکشان، بازنشستگان، دانشجویان، جوانان!
نه‌تنها برای اکثریّت قاطع شما، بلکه برای بخش بزرگی از نیروهای حاکمیّت نیز این واقعیّت بیش‌ازپیش روشن شده است که رژیم ولایت‌فقیه افزون بر بحران فلج‌کنندهٔ اقتصادی در کشور، در بحران گسترده و عمیق ورشکستگی نظری-سیاسی نیز دست‌وپا می‌زند. حاکمیّت اسلامی ایران از طریق بازگشایی راه مذاکره با آمریکا و همچنین کشاندن مردم به پای صندوق‌های رأیِ نمایشِ انتخاباتِ ریاست‌جمهوری خرداد ۱۴۰۰، برای تثبیت پایه‌های سُست‌شده‌اش و دست‌وپا کردن ذرّه‌ای مشروعیّت و مقبولیّت مردمی تلاش می‌کند. شماری از سران رژیم این واقعیت را انکار نمی‌کنند که اگر وضعیّت فوق‌العاده در کشور به‌خاطر وجود همه‌گیری ویروس کرونا نبود، این امکان نیرومند وجود داشت که همچون رویدادهای دی‌ماه ۹۶ و آبان‌ماه ۹۸ در صدها شهر کشور، این روزها نیز مردم به طور گسترده علیه ظلم و استبداد رژیم تاریک‌اندیش و ضدمردمی ولایی به پا می‌خواستند...

در مسیر حرکت و عمل جنبش مردمی کنونی، با همیاری و اتّحاد عمل برنامه‌ریزی‌شدهٔ کارگران و زحمتکشان میهن ما، بی‌تردید فروپاشی رژیم مستبد ولایت‌فقیه نیز عملی خواهد شد. باید برای این مبارزه آمادگی داشت.
حزب تودهٔ ایران، حزب مدافع منافع طبقهٔ کارگر و زحمتکشان ایران، بنا به ماهیّت اجتماعی-سیاسی‌اش، در طول نزدیک به هشتاد سال تاریخ مبارزاتی‌اش، همواره در کنار شما کارگران و زحمتکشان بوده و پیکار کرده است و همچنان خواهد کرد...

در آستانهٔ بزرگداشت روز جهانیِ کارگر، روز همبستگی همهٔ کارگران جهان، بیایید هم‌صدا با جنبش سندیکایی جهانی، خواهانِ

• امنیّت شغلی و مزد و مزایای شایسته برای همهٔ زحمتکشان یَدی و فکری،
• رفعِ تبعیض نسبت به کارگران زن، که از ستمی دوگانه رنج می‌برند،
• آزادی فعالیّت سندیکایی و حق تشکّل در سندیکاها و اتّحادیه‌های کارگری مستقل،
• پایان دادن بی‌درنگ به پیگرد و حبس، و سرکوب فعّالان سندیکایی،
• آزادی فوری و بی‌قیدوشرط همهٔ زندانیان سیاسی،
• کوشش در راه صلح و پیشرفت و همبستگی بین‌المللی، و

جهانی فارغ از استثمار
بشویم.
بیایید دست در دست یکدیگر، جبههٔ وسیع ضددیکتاتوری را در مقابل صف واحد ارتجاع، استبداد، و واپس‌گرایی بر پا کنیم و با طرد رژیم ولایی، راه را برای دست‌یافتن به دموکراسی، آزادی‌های دموکراتیک، و عدالت اجتماعی بگشاییم. تاریخِ نزدیک به یک قرن مبارزهٔ قهرمانانهٔ طبقهٔ کارگر ایران، نویدبخش پیروزی نهایی و بی‌تردید خلق بر ضد ارتجاع و استبداد است.

• فرخنده باد اوّل ماه مه، روز جهانیِ کارگر، روز همبستگیِ رزم‌جویانهٔ کارگران و زحمتکشان سراسر جهان!
• درود به کارگران و زحمتکشان رزمندهٔ ایران!
• ماندگارباد خاطرهٔ تابناک جان‌باختگان جنبش کارگری و همهٔ جان‌باختگان راه آزادی میهن!
• پیروز باد مبارزۀ کارگران و زحمتکشان ایران برای تأمین منافع صنفی و سیاسی علیه استبداد مذهبی حاکم!
• پیروز باد مبارزهٔ خلق در راه طردِ رژیم ولایت‌فقیه و برای آزادی، صلح، استقلال و عدالت اجتماعی!
