Statement of the Central Committee of theTudeh Party of Iran:

The urgent need to intensify efforts to preserve peace in the region and confront the adventurous and dangerous policies of US imperialism grows!

According to global news agencies,Qasem Soleimani, the Commander of the Quds Force of the Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps [IRGC]; Abu Mahdi al-Mohandis, [Head of Kataib Hezbollah and] the second-in-command of Iraq’s Popular Mobilisation Forces; as well as a number of Iranian, Iraqi and Lebanese [nationals] in the same convoy, were killed in an airstrike near to Baghdad airport. The assassination of Qasem Soleimani, on the order of [US] President Donald Trump, in clear violation of Iraqi national sovereignty and all international law, could undoubtedly posedeadly risks for the region.

Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the regime in Iran, issued a message in wake of the incident, which announced three days of public mourning in the country and read,  "Aharsh revenge awaits the criminals whose dirty hands are tainted with thehis [Soleimani’s] blood and the blood of other martyrs of last night's incident."

Adel Abdul Mahdi, the Iraqi Prime Minister,condemned the assassinations of Qasem Soleimani and AbuMahdi al-Mohandis, and in his statement declared the airstrike on Baghdad airport as a "hostile action" and violation ofthe territorial integrityof that country- which could lead to a war in Iraq, the region, and the world. The IRGC also warned in a statement that the killing of Qasem Soleimani in the US’ attack would "contrary to its intentions and objective" open up new fronts against the United States and Israel in the region and [across] the world.

In recent months, the Tudeh Party of Iran has continuously and frequently warned about the risk of the adventurous policies of USImperialism and its allies - including the reactionary government of Saudi Arabia and the racist Israeli government - as well as the imprudent and interventionist policies of the Iranian regime in the region,including in Iraq and Lebanon which in recent months have witnessedwidespread popular protests against foreign interference and in particular the interference of the Iranian regime.

The Tudeh Party of Iran, while denouncing this act of terrorism by the Trump administration - which is an indication of its [the Trump administration’s] flagrant disrespect of international law - believes all efforts must be taken in order to prevent the escalation of the crisis in the region and the driving of tensions towards dangerous military conflicts.

It is also necessary to point out that war and military conflicts in the region will only benefit the most reactionary and anti-people forces in the region and across the world and will be against the interests of the nation and working people. The action of the Trump administration takes place when he ison the verge of an impeachment trial in the US Senate for his abuse of power; and Americans have entered an election year.In Iran, our people - who are well awarewhat catastrophes war has brought on our homeland in the past- have always been concerned at the prospect of another war. The development of a national emergencyand wartimesituation in Iran, - at the point that the growing people’s movement in recent months has brought about a serious challenge to the theocratic regime - will be used as an excuse to intensify the atmosphere of repression and terror in Iran. An emergency situation in the country will lead to stricter and tougher conditions for any expression of opinion as well as tougher consequences for such expression. In contrast to the outlook of forces such as the monarchist and the PMOI - who act asagents of the Trump administration and demand US military intervention against our homeland, - [our Party recognises that] the intensification of military conflictswill certainly harm the people of Iran and Iraq more than anyone else; the very people who have been the main victims of the policies of the reactionary forces and of US Imperialism for years.

The Tudeh Party of Iran calls upon all ofthe progressive, freedom-loving and peace-loving forces of Iran, the region and across the world, to further their efforts to mobilise world public opinion against the escalation of tensions and the dangerous and lethal military conflicts in the region. The reactionary and anti-peopleleadersof the ruling regime in Iran and the US government should not be permitted to once again drive the Middle East region into fire and blood with another disastrous war. The struggle to preserve peace and stop the warmongering forces in the Middle East region in order to defend the interests of the Iranian working people and nation is of utmost importance.

بیانیهٔ کمیتهٔ مرکزی حزب تودهٔ‌ ایران: ضرورت تشدید تلاش‌ها به‌منظور حفظ صلح در منطقه و مقابله با سیاست‌های ماجراجویانه و خطرناک امپریالیسم آمریکا!

بر اساس گزارش خبرگزاری‌های جهان، قاسم سلیمانی،‌ فرمانده نیروی قدس سپاه پاسداران،‌ ابو مهدی المهندس، نایب‌رئیس حشد الشعبی عراق، و شماری از همراهان ایرانی، عراقی، و لبنانی آنان، در حملهٔ هوایی‌ای غافلگیرانه در نزدیکی فرودگاه بغداد به‌قتل رسیدند. ترور قاسم سلیمانی به‌دستور دونالد ترامپ، رئیس‌جمهوری آمریکا، و با نقض آشکار حاکمیت ملی عراق و همه قوانین بین‌المللی، بی‌شک می‌تواند خطراتی مهلک برای منطقه به‌همراه داشته باشد.

علی خامنه‌ای، ولی‌فقیه رژیم، در پیامی که بهاین مناسبت صادر کرد، ضمن اعلام سه روز عزای عمومی در کشور،‌ ازجمله گفت: "انتقام سختی در انتظار جنایتکارانی است که دست پلید خود را به خون او [سلیمانی] و دیگر شهدای حادثه‌ی دیشب آلودند."

عادل عبدالمهدی، نخست‌وزیر عراق، ترور قاسم سلیمانی و ابو مهدی المهندس را محکوم کرد و در بیانیه‌ای، حمله هوایی به فرودگاه بغداد را "اقدامی خصمانه" و نقض تمامیت ارضی آنکشور اعلام کرد که می‌تواند بهبروز جنگ در عراق، منطقه، و جهان منجر بشود. سپاه پاسداران رژیم ایران نیز در بیانیه‌ای هشدار داد که کشته شدن قاسم سلیمانی در حمله آمریکا "برخلاف نیت و غایت" این قتل، به باز شدن جبهه‌هایی جدید علیه آمریکا و اسرائیل در منطقه و جهان خواهد انجامید.

حزب تودهٔ‌ ایران، در ماه‌های اخیر به‌طور پیگیر و مرتب دربارهٔ خطر سیاست‌های ماجراجویانهٔ امپریالیسم آمریکا و متحدانش ازجمله دولت ارتجاعی عربستان سعودی و دولت نژادپرست اسرائیل و همچنین سیاست نابخردانه و مداخله‌جویانه رژیم ایران در منطقه، ازجمله در عراق و لبنان که در ماه‌های اخیر شاهد تظاهرات اعتراضی مردمی گسترده بر ضد دخالت‌های خارجی و به‌ویژه رژیم ولایی ایران بوده‌اند، هشدار داده است.

حزب تودهٔ‌ ایران، ضمن محکوم کردن این عمل تروریستی دولت ترامپ که نشانهٔ بی‌اعتنایی جنایتکارانهٔ تمام و کمال آن به قوانین بین‌المللی است، معتقد است که به‌منظور جلوگیری از تشدید بحران در منطقه و رانده شدن تنش‌های به‌وجود آمده به سمت درگیری‌های خطرناک نظامی، باید همه تلاش‌ها را بهکار گرفت.

تذکر این نکته هم ضروری است که جنگ و درگیری‌های نظامی در منطقه تنها بهنفع ارتجاعی‌ترین و ضدمردمی‌ترین نیروها در منطقه و جهان و بهضد منافع مردم و زحمتکشان خواهد بود. حرکت دولت ترامپ در زمانی صورت می‌گیرد که او در آستانه محاکمه در سنای آمریکا به‌خاطر سوءِاستفاده از قدرت است؛درعینحال، مردم آمریکا وارد سال برگزاری انتخابات آتی ریاست جمهوری در آن کشور می‌شود، و در ایران هم مردم ما که به‌خوبی‌ آگاه‌اند که جنگ در میهن‌ ما در گذشته چه فاجعه‌‌هایی به‌بار آورد،همواره از برافروخته شدن جنگ دیگری به‌شدت نگرانند..  به‌وجود آمدن وضعیتی فوق‌العاده و جنگی در ایران درحالی‌که جنبش رو به‌رشد مردمی در ماه‌های اخیر رژیم ولایت فقیه را به‌چالشی جدی کشانده بود، بهانه‌ای خواهد شد برای تشدید جو ترور و اختناق در ایران. وضعیت فوالعاده در کشور به محدودتر کردن شرایط برای هرگونه اظهارنظر و سخت‌تر شدن پیامدهای آن می‌انجامد. برخلاف تمایل نیروهایی مانند سلطنت‌طلبان و مجاهدین خلق که در مقام کارگزاران دولت ترامپ عمل می‌کنند و خواهان دخالت نظامی آمریکا بر ضد میهن ما هستند، دود تشدید درگیری‌های نظامی قطعاً بیش از همه بهچشم مردم ایران و عراق می‌رود، مردمی که سال‌هاست قربانیان اصلی سیاست‌های نیروهای ارتجاعی منطقه و امپریالیسم آمریکا هستند.

حزب تودهٔ ایران همهٔ نیروهای مترقی،آزادی‌خواه، و صلح‌دوست ایران، منطقه، و جهان را فرامی‌خواند تا تلاش‌های‌شان را به‌منظور بسیج افکارعمومی جهان برای جلوگیری از تشدید تشنج و درگیری‌های نظامی خطرناک و مهلک در منطقه به‌کارگیرند. نباید اجازه داد تا سران ارتجاعی و ضد مردمی رژیم حاکم بر ایران و دولت آمریکا بار دیگر منطقهٔ خاورمیانه را با بحران جنگی دیگر به آتش و خون بکشند. مبارزه برای حفظ صلح و جلوگیری از میدان‌دار شدن نیروهای جنگ‌طلب در منطقه خاورمیانه در شرایط کنونی برای دفاع از مصالح عالیه مردم و زحمتکشان ایران اهمیت عاجل دارد.
