Workers Party of Ireland condemns the murderous attacks on Iran
The Workers Party of Ireland has signed the Joint Statement of the Communist and Workers’ parties strongly condemning the US attack on Iran, which escalates the military offensive already launched by Israel.
While our Party deplores the reactionary ruling authoritarian regime in Iran, with its bloody repression including death sentences, especially for political prisoners and prisoners of conscience, this act of murderous aggression constitutes a declaration of war against a sovereign state in blatant violation of Article 2.4 of the UN Charter. The disgraceful and cowardly response of the UK government and the US puppet, Starmer, demands that they also must be held responsible for these attacks both collectively and individually.
After Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria and the ongoing genocide in Palestine, the USA and its allies are now shedding the blood of yet another country in the Middle East. This imperialist aggression is plunging people into war across a wider region and threatening to destroy humanity as a whole.
The Workers Party of Ireland sends its solidarity to the peoples of the region at this time of imperialist and Zionist aggression and when the Israeli murder machine continues its genocide against the Palestinian people.
The increased aggressiveness of imperialism poses a real and urgent threat to the interests of all humanity. History has shown that imperialism and its agents will use any means to advance its objectives and will ruthlessly destroy nations and peoples without qualm in furtherance of its objectives.
The Workers Party of Ireland demands an immediate end to the war against Iran by the USA, NATO and Israel. Solidarity with the people of Iran and Palestine, the Tudeh Party and the Palestinian communists and other peoples and communists in the region including Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen!
Long live proletarian internationalism!
