The police arrested a delegation of the Greek-Cuban Friendship Association who were protesting outside the US Embassy
Another unacceptable incident of the repression and intimidation against the movement took place on Monday 20/2, when the police brought 7 members of the Greek-Cuban Association of Friendship and Solidarity to the General Police Directorate of Attica. The delegation of the Association, headed by the President Nikos Karandreas, had gone to the US Embassy to protests and to hand over a resolution of solidarity with the Cuban 5, demanding their immediate release.
Without any provocation the police arrested the militants. This was the first time this had happened after many similar protests which had been carried out in the past. After the intense protests of mass organizations and the political intervention of the KKE, those who had been arrested were set free.
The statement issued by the Greek-Cuban Associations stressed that: “This is not an isolated incident. It is part of the policy of repression which is being implemented by the anti-people government against the working class, people’s movement”. A similar denunciation was issued by the Greek Committee For International Democratic Solidarity (EEDDA).

Полиция задержала делегацию Греко-кубинского общества, протестующую перед посольством США
Во вторник состоялась ещё одна попытка запугать и подавить движение, когда полиция забрала в Главное управление полиции семь членов Греко-кубинского общества дружбы и солидарности. Делегация общества во главе с председателем общества Никосом Карандреасом организовала протест у посольства США и намеревалась прикрепить к воротам резолюцию солидарности с 5 кубинцами, требуя их немедленного освобождения.
Без малейшего повода полицейские задержали борцов. Это случилось впервые, хотя в прошлом проводилось множество подобных протестов. После резкого протеста массовых организаций и политического вмешательства Компартии Греции задержанных освободили.
«Это действие не единичное. Оно является частью репрессивной политики, применяемой антинародным правительством против рабочего, народного движения» подчеркивает заявление Греко-кубинского общества. С подобным заявлением выступил и Греческий комитет международной демократической солидарности (ЕЕДДА).

La policía detuvo a una delegación de la Asociación Heleno-Cubana de Amistad que protestaba fuera de la embajada de los EE.UU.
Otro incidente inaceptable de represión e intimidación contra el movimiento ocurrió el lunes 20 de febrero cuando la policía llevó a la Dirección General de la Policía en la región de Ática a siete miembros de la Asociación Heleno-Cubana de Amistad y Solidaridad. La delegación de la Asociación, encabezada por el presidente Nikos Karandreas, había ido a la embajada de los EE.UU. para protestar y entregar una resolución de solidaridad con los 5 cubanos, exigiendo su liberación inmediata.
Sin ningún tipo de provocación, las fuerzas policiales detuvieron a los militantes, algo que sucedió por primera vez aunque muchas protestas similares se habían llevado a cabo en el pasado. Después de las fuertes protestas de organizaciones de masas y la intervención política del KKE, los detenidos fueron puestos en libertad.
La Asociación Heleno-Cubana destaca en su comunicado: “Este no es un incidente aislado. Es parte de la política de represión que está siendo implementada por el gobierno antipopular contra el movimiento obrero, popular”. Una denuncia similar fue emitida por el Comité Griego de Solidaridad Democrática Internacional (EEDDA).
