Message to the 24th International Meeting of Communist and Workers’ Parties
Havana, Cuba | 7–9 August 2026

Dear Comrades,

On behalf of the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB), we convey our warmest
revolutionary greetings and fraternal solidarity to all Communist and Workers’ Parties
participating in the 24th International Meeting of Communist and Workers’ Parties in
Havana.

We sincerely regret that we could not be present in Havana on this important
occasion. The rapidly evolving political situation in Bangladesh, the very limited time
available for preparation, and the considerable distance between Bangladesh and Cuba
made it impossible for us to undertake the journey this time. Our absence from
Havana, however, should in no way be understood as an absence from the common
struggle. Our political solidarity with the Cuban Revolution and with the international
Communist and Workers’ movement remains firm and unwavering.

We extend our deepest solidarity to the Communist Party of Cuba and the heroic
people of Cuba. For decades, Cuba has demonstrated that a small nation can defend
its independence, dignity and social achievements even under relentless pressure from
the most powerful imperialist state in the world. The continuing US blockade and
other forms of economic and political coercion against Cuba are unacceptable
violations of the Cuban people's right to determine their own future.

The Communist Party of Bangladesh stands unequivocally with Cuba. We demand an
immediate end to the blockade and to all forms of imperialist pressure and
interference against the Cuban people. The defense of Cuba is, in our view,
inseparable from the defense of national sovereignty, the right of peoples to self
determination and the possibility of pursuing an alternative to imperialist domination.

Bangladesh is passing through a decisive and complicated political period. The
country is experiencing profound political, economic and social tensions while its
geopolitical significance is growing rapidly.

Our geographical position, the Bay of Bengal, our access to important maritime routes
and our economic potential have increasingly drawn the attention of competing major
powers. In this environment, the United States is seeking to strengthen its economic,
strategic and geopolitical influence in Bangladesh and in the wider South Asian
region.

We are witnessing increasing pressure around trade, investment, strategic
infrastructure, energy, ports, maritime interests and regional security. These
developments cannot be separated from the broader contest for influence in the Indo
Pacific and the growing rivalry among major powers.

The Communist Party of Bangladesh firmly opposes the use of Bangladesh as an
arena for imperialist competition.

Our opposition to imperialism is not directed against the people of any country. It is
directed against domination, intervention and the subordination of the interests of
peoples and nations to the interests of powerful states and transnational capital.

One of our serious concerns is the growing willingness of sections of Bangladesh's
ruling class to accommodate external interests at the expense of national interests.

We are witnessing attempts to open strategic economic sectors and national assets to
foreign capital and geopolitical interests without adequate consideration of the long
term consequences for national sovereignty, economic independence and the rights of
our people.

For the Communist Party of Bangladesh, sovereignty cannot be reduced to the
formal existence of a state. Genuine sovereignty requires the people to retain
meaningful control over their country's resources, economy, strategic infrastructure
and national policy.

A country cannot be genuinely independent if its economic policies, strategic choices
and vital national assets are increasingly determined by external powers or by the
interests of international capital.

Therefore, our struggle against imperialist intervention is simultaneously a struggle
against those domestic forces that are prepared to sacrifice national interests for short
term political or economic advantage.

The danger is not confined to Bangladesh. Across Asia, and particularly in South
Asia, ordinary people are increasingly bearing the consequences of geopolitical
rivalry, militarization, economic crisis, border tensions and competing strategic
ambitions.

The region is being drawn deeper into an environment in which military alliances,
strategic partnerships and great-power competition increasingly shape national
policies. The working people, however, have no interest in becoming casualties of
rival geopolitical projects.

The peoples of South Asia share a common interest in peace, sovereignty, democracy,
economic justice and development. We reject the transformation of our region into a
theatre of military confrontation or a sphere of domination by any major power.

We believe that the Communist and Workers’ Parties of Asia have a particular
responsibility to strengthen cooperation among the peoples of the region and to
oppose militarism, communalism, chauvinism and imperialist intervention in all its
forms.

At a time when imperialism is becoming increasingly global in its methods and reach,
international solidarity has become more important than ever.

The struggles of the Cuban people, the Palestinian people and peoples resisting
domination and occupation in different parts of the world are not isolated struggles.
They are connected by a common demand: the right of peoples to live with dignity,
determine their own future and control their own resources.

Internationalism, however, must always be based on respect for the sovereignty and
political independence of peoples. Every country's revolutionary movement must be
rooted in its own social and historical conditions and must have the freedom to
determine its own political strategy.

For us, genuine internationalism means solidarity without domination, cooperation
without subordination and common struggle without interference in the internal
affairs of other peoples.

This is why strengthening the bonds among Communist and Workers’ Parties is so
important. We must exchange experiences, coordinate our political efforts, stand
beside peoples under attack and build stronger common resistance to imperialism and
war.

The Communist Party of Bangladesh reaffirms its historic commitment to the struggle
against imperialism, exploitation, capitalism and all forms of domination.

In Bangladesh, we shall continue to fight for national sovereignty, democratic rights,
economic justice and the political and economic emancipation of working people.

We shall oppose every attempt to subordinate Bangladesh's national interests to the
strategic or economic interests of foreign powers.

We shall resist the transfer of the burdens of global capitalist crisis onto workers,
peasants and ordinary people.

And we shall continue to work for stronger relations, solidarity and cooperation with
Communist and Workers’ Parties across the world.

We are conscious of the difficult conditions confronting the international Left and the
Communist movement. Yet we also believe that the deepening contradictions of
capitalism, imperialist rivalry, war, inequality and ecological crisis are creating an
urgent need for a credible socialist alternative.

The task before us is not simply to resist individual attacks, but to strengthen the
political capacity of working people to challenge the system that continuously
produces exploitation, inequality and domination.

The Communist Party of Bangladesh therefore considers the strengthening of
international Communist solidarity not merely desirable, but necessary.

From Bangladesh, we once again send our warmest revolutionary greetings to the
Communist Party of Cuba, the Cuban people and all participating parties at the
24th IMCWP.

May the bonds of international solidarity among Communist and Workers’ Parties
grow stronger.

Long live the struggle against imperialism!
Long live the unity of the Communist and Workers’ Parties!
Long live the struggle for peace, sovereignty, democracy and socialism!
