Dear comrades,

The Communist Party of Norway is grateful for being invited to the 24th worldwide meeting for communist and workers parties. It is also a great honor to celebrate Fidel Castro Ruz. 

These days we are facing a severe geopolitical crisis. The fundamental contradiction within capitalism is noticeable to all of us. We have probably underestimated the strength of our enemy, and unfortunately; there is no Soviet Union to guide us. 

The western hemisphere is led by the USA. The USA is trying to maintain their economic and political dominance in the world. The main supporters of the USA is the EU and Isreal. When war is necessary the military branch – NATO – is available. 

However, Europe does not always speak with one voice. Countries like Spain and Norway have, to a certain extent, emphasized diplomacy. Some Arab countries have put themselves in a complicated position. Diplomatic solutions are impossible when linked to the American security structure. 

The Islamic Republic of Iran have in some ways established an effectful resistance to US dominance due to good connections with Russia and China. On the one hand we see anti-imperialist actions, but on the other there are clear signs of divisions within the global capitalistic system, and rivalry can escalate. 

The working class will always bear the heaviest burden of capitalistic warfare. Destroyed infrastructure, humanitarian crisis, expensive energy and inflation cripple the working class worldwide. On the other hand, the profit goes to shareholders in military corporations, tech companies and oil companies. 

The Communist Party of Norway is working under harsh conditions. We face the most restricted legislation in Europe in both local- and general elections. This makes it difficult to participate in elections and public discussions. Against all odds, we continue to mobilize against aggressive militarization efforts and support and campaign for diplomacy and peace. In this work, unwavering solidarity and strengthened unity are crucial.
