US aggression against Cubais part of its inflammatory policy across the globe

The Trump administration’s policy of causing energy suffocation of Cuba has criminal and inhumane consequences for the Cuban people, particularly for vulnerable groups such as the sick and children. This plan constitutes an escalation of the 65-year-old trade, economic, and financial blockade imposed by the U.S. against Cuba, in defiance of the successive UN General Assembly Resolutions in which the overwhelming majority of the world’s nations call to end the blockade.

Quite the contrary, the US is putting pressure on other nations to sever their relations and cooperation with Cuba seeking to isolate it from the international community. It is clear that the U.S. is drastically intensifying its strangulation of the Cuban economy with the aim of destabilizing the country, while extremely revealing are the cynical threats issued by Trump and Rubio to “taking over Cuba one way or another”, which constitute a flagrant violation of international law.

The heightened aggression of the US against Cuba is part of its widespread inflammable policy all over the world—from Venezuela to Palestine, Iran and Lebanon—aimed at defending its global hegemony. That is precisely why they are dismantling the international legal order, openly undermining the UN, launching military invasions and trade wars, and blatantly encroaching upon the territorial integrity of sovereign states, even their own allies.

The answer to all this is not fatalism and submission to the law of violence and of the mighty, but the defence of peace, international law, and the UN Charter, and solidarity with the struggling and suffering peoples of the world.
