In yet another repulsive act characteristic of his government, and also an affront to the rules of International Law as well as specific UN resolutions on the matter, Trump has publicly expressed recognition of Morocco's "sovereignty" over Western Sahara, a centuries-old territory of the Sahrawi people.

Morocco's colonialist attitude, which has illegally occupied part of this West African region for over 50 years, has been rejected in numerous international forums and instances, resulting in growing diplomatic and political isolation for that country. Western Sahara is the last remaining colony in Africa, a situation that only persists due to the support of the US, France, Spain, Israel, and other countries for the authoritarian Moroccan administration.

The Sahrawi people have the right to their sovereignty, to their self-determination. The Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic and its political-military arm, the Polisario Front, are their legitimate representatives. The Brazilian Communist Party – PCB joins numerous other political forces and governments worldwide in repudiating these and other acts that express colonialism and imperialism.

Long live the struggle of the Sahrawi people!

Western Sahara must be fully returned to its people.

Fora Marrocos do Saara Ocidental!

Em mais uma atitude repulsiva característica do seu governo e também de afronta às regras do Direito Internacional, assim como resoluções específicas da ONU a respeito do assunto, Trump manifestou publicamente reconhecer a “soberania” do Marrocos sobre o Saara Ocidental, mais que secular território do povo saarauí.

A atitude colonialista do Marrocos, que ocupa há mais de 50 anos ilegalmente parte dessa região da África Ocidental, vem sendo rejeitada em inúmeros fóruns e instâncias internacionais em um crescente isolamento diplomático e político desse país. O Saara Ocidental é a última colônia existente na África, situação que só se sustenta graças ao apoio de EUA, França, Espanha, Israel e outros países à autoritária administração marroquina.

O povo saarauí tem direito à sua soberania, à sua autodeterminação. A República Árabe Saarauí Democrática e seu braço político – militar, a Frente Polisário, são seus legítimos representantes. O Partido Comunista Brasileiro – PCB se soma a inúmeras outras forças políticas e governos no mundo em repúdio a esses e outros atos que expressam o colonialismo e o imperialismo.

]Viva a luta do povo saarauí ! O Saara Ocidental deve ser integralmente devolvido à sua gente.

Repudiamos o colonialismo de Marrocos, EUA e outras nações.
