Stop the Repression Against Kenyan Communists!

The persecution of the comrades of the Communist Party Marxist of Kenya (CPMK) continues unabated. These days, the international conference “Anti-Imperialism and Anti-Fascism in Africa” is taking place in Nairobi, organized by the CPMK in opposition to the summit “Africa Forward: Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth” which is being held simultaneously in the same city in the presence of Macron. This summit is a product of Paris’s never-ending neocolonial ambitions on the African continent, ambitions that also extend to countries that were never part of the former French colonial empire.

During a protest demonstration organized by local communists on the sidelines of the conference, Kenyan authorities arrested the leader of the student organization, Samuel Jobunga, together with twelve other CPMK cadres. Also arrested were several international guests attending the conference, including comrade Joti Brar, president of the Communist Party of Great Britain (M-L). Also present on the ground is our comrade Samuel Iembo, head of the International Department of our Party, who went to the police station to express solidarity with those arrested and attended the criminal proceedings against the general secretary of the Communist Party Marxist of Kenya (CPMK), comrade Booker Omole, who had already been arbitrarily detained and subjected to torture by the Nairobi authorities last February.

We learn with indignation that, while the Kenyan comrades have for the moment been released, the members of the international delegations will instead be expelled from the country. This is unacceptable and demands firm condemnation from all communist forces, especially in Europe. The Communist Party (Switzerland) expresses its solidarity with the comrades of the Communist Party Marxist of Kenya in their struggle for their country’s national sovereignty and against imperialist interference in the political and economic life of Kenya and the entire African continent. Stop repressing African patriots to please the colonial metropoles!

Fermiamo la repressione contro i comunisti kenyoti!

Non si fermano le persecuzioni contro i compagni del Partito Comunista Marxista del Kenya (CPMK). In questi giorni si sta svolgendo a Nairobi la conferenza internazionale  “Antimperialismo e antifascismo in Africa”, organizzata dal CPMK in opposizione al summit “Africa Forward: Africa–France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth” che si tiene contemporaneamente nella stessa città alla presenza di Macron. Questo summit è un prodotto delle mai sopite mire neocoloniali di Parigi sul continente africano, che si estendono anche a quei paesi che non hanno fatto parte dell’ex impero coloniale francese.

Durante una manifestazione di protesta organizzata dai comunisti locali a margine della conferenza, le autorità kenyote hanno arrestato il responsabile dell’organizzazione studentesca Samuel Jobunga insieme ad altri dodici quadri di CPMK. Insieme a loro sono stati arrestati anche alcuni ospiti internazionali, partecipanti alla conferenza, tra cui la compagna Joti Brar, presidente del Partito Comunista di Gran Bretagna (M-L). Presente sul posto vi è anche il nostro compagno Samuel Iembo, responsabile del Dipartimento Internazionale del nostro Partito e che si è recato alla stazione di polizia per testimoniare solidarietà con gli arrestati ed ha presenziato al processo penale contro il segretario del Partito Comunista Marxista del Kenya (CPMK), il compagno Booker Omole, già arbitrariamente detenuto e sottoposto a tortura dalle autorità di Nairobi lo scorso febbraio.

Apprendiamo con indignazione che, mentre i compagni kenyoti sono stati per il momento rilasciati, i membri delle delegazioni internazionali verranno invece espulsi dal paese. Ciò è inaccettabile ed esige una ferma condanna da parte di tutte le forze comuniste, soprattutto in Europa. Il Partito Comunista (Svizzera) esprime solidarietà ai compagni del Partito Comunista Marxista del Kenya nella loro lotta per la sovranità nazionale del loro Paese e contro le ingerenze imperialiste nella vita politica ed economica del Kenya e di tutto il continente africano. Basta reprimere i patrioti africani per far piacere alle metropole coloniali!
