Stop bombing Iran!

The Finnish Communist Party strongly condemns the military attack by the United States and Israel against Iran. This is a criminal act and violation of international law that threatens to push the entire Middle East into an expanding spiral of war.

Israel and the United States have once again put forward unfounded accusations about the supposed danger posed by Iran. These accusations are as baseless as all the others these countries have used to justify their imperialist ambitions. They have nothing to do with genuine security concerns, but instead serve the protection of geopolitical interests.

The United States and Israel seek to subordinate the Middle East to their own interests, to control its natural resources, and to bring the countries and peoples of the region under their domination. In this context, Israel acts both as an instrument of the United States in advancing these goals and as an active partner and ally.

The Finnish Communist Party expresses its solidarity with the people of Iran and with all the peoples of the Middle East who suffer from war, occupation, and imperialist violence. Once again, the attack primarily targets ordinary people. The Iranian people are currently suffering both from internal repression within the country and from imperialist violence and sanctions. No country can be bombed into democracy.

The Finnish government has tied the country to the military strategies of the United States and NATO. Particularly dangerous is the DCA agreement concluded with the United States, which grants the U.S. armed forces extensive rights to operate on Finnish territory and firmly binds Finland to U.S. war policy.

Finland is thus linked to the interests of a great power even in situations where the United States acts unpredictably and violates international law. The acquisition of the David’s Sling air defence system from Israel deepens military cooperation with a state carrying out genocide and binds Finland to its apartheid policies. The Finnish Communist Party opposes this procurement and demands that it to be cancelled.

We call on the labour movement, the peace movement, and other progressive forces in Finland and internationally to act to stop the war and oppose imperialist war policies.

Peace is humanity’s only alternative.
