A large, warm and comradely gathering of two communist parties and two peoples

On Sunday evening, 22 September, a large gathering and concert celebrating the music of Mikis Theodorakis with the theme “For the bread, the light and the song of the whole world” took place in Izmir. This was the second concert organized by the Central Committees of the CP of Greece and the CP of Turkey to honour the centenary of Mikis Theodorakis’s birth. The first concert took place on the island of Chios two days earlier.

At the event, Nikos Sofianos, a member of the PB of the CC of the KKE, and Kemal Okuyan, GS of the CC of TKP, spoke about the significant work of Mikis Theodorakis, which was inextricably linked to the struggles for social liberation, the friendship among the peoples and their struggles today, the Palestinian people who continue to shed their blood and the future that the peoples can bring about by believing in their own strength.

Concluding his speech, Nikos Sofianos said: “Our parties are intensifying their efforts to strengthen their roots within the working class and its movement, to analyze contemporary international and domestic developments dialectically, and to enrich the revolutionary strategy that responds to our times, as an era of transition from capitalism to socialism. We are confident that the communists in Turkey will take further significant steps in their struggle for the interests of the working class and the Turkish people. Turkey and the wider region need an even stronger Communist Party of Turkey”.

Большая, теплая, братская встреча двух коммунистических партий, двух народов

В воскресенье вечером, 22 сентября, в Измире состоялся большой митинг/концерт, наполненный музыкой великого композитора Микиса Теодоракиса. Это был второй, после состоявшегося на острове Хиос двумя днями ранее, концерт, организованный ЦК Компартии Греции и ЦК Компартии Турции (КПТ), посвященный 100-летию со дня рождения Микиса Теодоракиса, под названием «Хлеб, свет и песня для всего мира».

С приветственным словом на нем выступили член Политбюро ЦК КПГ  Никос Софианос и Генсек ЦК КПТ Кемаль Окуян, которые отметили, что великие произведения Микиса Теодоракиса неотделимы от борьбы за социальное освобождение, дружбу народов и от сегодняшней борьбы за свободу истекающей кровью Палестины, за светлое будущее, к которому могут привести народы, верящие в свои силы.

В завершение своего выступления Никос Софианос сказал: «Наши партии активизируют усилия по своему укоренению в рабочем классе и рабочем движении, проведению диалектического анализа современных международных и внутренних процессов, обогащению революционной стратегии, отвечающей нашей эпохе как эпохе перехода от капитализма к социализму. Мы уверены, что коммунисты Турции предпримут дальнейшие важные шаги в своей борьбе за интересы рабочего класса и турецкого народа. Турции, как и всему региону, нужна ещё более сильная Коммунистическая партия Турции».
