Any attempt at US military intervention in Cuba must be condemned and prevented

During the hypocritical debate on human rights in Cuba held at the European Parliament’s plenary session in Strasbourg, the KKE’s MEPs intervened through a statement delivered by KKE MEP Lefteris Nikolaou-Alavanos.

The debate, which began with High Representative K. Callas remaining silent on the US embargo, soon descended into an outpouring of anti-communism, attacks, and threats directed against Cuba. These, however, were firmly answered by  both the KKE MEP and other MEPs.

In his speech, the KKE MEP stated:

“Ms. Callas, have you heard nothing about the US embargo and its consequences? Truly?

Today, yet another debate serving political expediency is taking place in the European Parliament, at a time when the US is intensifying the blockade against the Cuban people and escalating its threats, even to the point of military aggression against Cuba.

This is yet further proof that the EU and its institutions are complicit in the intervention against an independent state, with the aim of overturning the choices of its people and the achievements of the Cuban Revolution.

The report on alleged human rights violations is not only hypocritical and fabricated, but also serves as a pretext for US aggression against Cuba and the continuation of the criminal blockade, which deprives the people of water, electricity, medicines, and fuel, putting countless human lives at risk.

Now is the time for the peoples of Europe and the entire world to strengthen their solidarity with the Cuban people. Every attempt at intervention on the island must be condemned and prevented; the criminal blockade must be brought to an end; and Cuba’s inclusion on the despicable list of state sponsors of terrorism must be revoked.

For decades, the Cuban people have resisted the criminal plans of the US, defending their homeland, their achievements, and the path opened by their Revolution. Cuba is not alone. Cuba will prevail.”

Que se condene y se impida cualquier intento de intervención militar de los Estados Unidos en Cuba

En el debate hipócrita sobre los derechos humanos en Cuba celebrado en el Pleno del Parlamento Europeo en Estrasburgo, intervino el eurodiputado del KKE, Lefteris Nikolaou-Alavanos.

El debate, que comenzó con la Alta Representante K. Kalas sin pronunciar una sola palabra sobre el bloqueo estadounidense, se convirtió en un alboroto de anticomunismo, ataques y amenazas contra Cuba, que, sin embargo, recibió respuesta tanto del eurodiputado del KKE como de otros eurodiputados.

En su intervención, el eurodiputado del KKE señaló lo siguiente:

Otro debate de conveniencia en el Parlamento Europeo, en un momento en que Estados Unidos refuerza el bloqueo en detrimento del pueblo cubano y recrudece las amenazas, incluso de una agresión militar contra Cuba.

Una prueba más de que la UE y sus instituciones son cómplices de la intervención contra un Estado independiente con el objetivo de anular las decisiones del pueblo y los logros de la Revolución Cubana.

Las referencias a supuestas violaciones de derechos humanos son hipócritas y fabricadas, sirven de pretexto a la agresividad estadounidense contra Cuba y al bloqueo criminal que priva al pueblo de electricidad, medicamentos, combustible, poniendo en riesgo miles de vidas humanas.

Ahora es el momento para reforzar la solidaridad popular desde Europa y del mundo con el pueblo cubano. Para condenar e impedir cualquier intento de intervención en la isla, poner fin al bloqueo criminal y eliminar la inclusión de Cuba en la infame lista de “patrocinadores del terrorismo”.

El pueblo cubano se resiste desde siempre a los planes criminales de EE. UU., defiende su patria y sus conquistas, el camino que abrió su Revolución.

Cuba no está sola. Cuba vencerá.
