The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India issued the following statement today (September 10, 2026):

The Communist Party of India expresses grave concern over reports of six registered but unrecognised political parties in Gujarat receiving an astonishing ₹1,700 crore in donations in 2023–24, despite having no visible political activity. The Aam Janmat Party received ₹620 crore, the Satyawadi Rakshak Party ₹330.55 crore, the Swatantrata Abhivyakti Party ₹219.69 crore, the New India United Party ₹200.69 crore, the Bharatiya National Janta Dal ₹191.61 crore and the Gareeb Kalyan Party ₹138 crore. The fact that parties receiving such enormous sums have not contested elections meaningfully and, in several cases, have failed to submit proper audit and financial reports to the Election Commission raises extremely serious questions about the source and purpose of these funds.

The CPI demands a thorough, time-bound investigation by the CBI and a comprehensive audit by the CAG into the entire trail of these funds. The Income Tax Department and Enforcement Directorate must also investigate the source of the donations, the identity of the donors, the channels through which the money was transferred and its ultimate beneficiaries. The Election Commission must take immediate action against parties that have violated statutory requirements, examine whether their registrations should be cancelled, and place the findings before the public. Those found guilty of financial or electoral wrongdoing must face strict punishment.

The sheer scale and unusual pattern of these donations give rise to a grave apprehension that some of these parties may have been created or used merely as fronts for routing political funds, with the money ultimately finding its way to the BJP. This is a serious matter concerning the integrity of India’s electoral democracy and cannot be brushed aside as an issue involving fringe political organisations. If proxy parties have been used to conceal the source or destination of funds benefiting the ruling party, the people of India have a right to know the complete financial trail. The CPI demands a transparent investigation into every link in this chain and full public disclosure of the findings, with action against every individual and organisation found responsible, regardless of political position.
