Trump’s Gaza ‘Peace Plan’ A Cover for Occupation, Not a Path to Justice
The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India issued today (October 1, 2025) the following statement:
Donald Trump’s so-called “20-point peace plan” for Gaza is nothing more than a deliberate exercise in vagueness and discrimination. While projecting itself as a roadmap to peace, it makes no mention of the West Bank, offers only the faintest and most ambiguous reference to Palestinian statehood, and leaves untouched the fundamental question of Israeli military domination over Palestinian territories. Instead of addressing the root causes of the conflict, it seeks to manage the occupation on Israel’s terms, ignoring the daily suffering of the Palestinian people.
The plan outrageously proposes figures like Tony Blair, discredited for his role in wars of aggression, as guardians of peace, a move that strips the process of any legitimacy. Equally dangerous is its demand that Palestinians make concessions and disarm while offering no credible mechanism for Israeli withdrawal or dismantling of occupation structures. Such proposals only shift the burden onto the oppressed, while leaving intact the stranglehold of Israeli forces over Palestinian life and land.
The Communist Party of India insists that a genuine peace process must begin with an immediate ceasefire and the release of prisoners. It cannot be led by the very imperialist powers that have enabled decades of dispossession but must instead be taken up by the countries of the Global South, including India, to ensure a just outcome. Any real solution must guarantee full Palestinian statehood on the basis of the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. Without this, no plan can bring justice or peace, only a continuation of occupation under a new guise.
