Down with the Wars of Fundamentalism and the Military-Industrial Complex: CP Pakistan’s Statement on the Escalating Pakistan-Afghanistan Confrontation

We express deep concern over the recent escalation of tensions and cross-border hostilities between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Such confrontations neither serve regional peace nor the well-being of the working people of both nations. We firmly believe that both countries sharing deep historical and people’s ties must resolve their differences through dialogue and mutual respect rather than armed confrontation. We categorically condemn all acts of aggression and interference in each other’s internal affairs. Afghanistan must ensure that its territory is not used for militant activities against Pakistan, while Pakistan must fully respect Afghanistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The path of peace and cooperation between people, not militarization, is the only route toward stability and progress in the region. It is evident that expansionist rhetoric, religious fundamentalism, and chauvinistic nationalism do not represent the interests of the toiling masses. Rather, they serve to divide the people and divert attention from the pressing socio-economic challenges that both nations face. True peace will emerge not from the triumph of one state over another, but from the unity and empowerment of the working people and peace-loving citizens on both sides of the border.

We therefore urge both governments to engage in constructive negotiations aimed at addressing cross-border security concerns, improving living conditions in border regions, and fostering regional cooperation on the basis of equality and sovereignty. The people living in the bordering areas of Pakistan and Afghanistan deserve an end to perpetual conflict and the beginning of an era grounded in peace, social justice, and mutual respect. In this spirit, we call upon all progressive and democratic forces to reject imperialist wars, oppose reactionary politics, and uphold the principles of solidarity, peace, and self-determination among nations. Only through genuine cooperation and working people’s unity can the region move toward lasting stability and prosperity.

With our fraternal greetings,

The Communist Party of Pakistan
