CPS Statement on Mswati's Visit to Taiwan for the so-called National Day Activities

8 October 2026:The Communist Party of Swaziland (CPS) unreservedly condemns the tyrant King Mswati III’s continued arrogant engagement with the Taiwan separatists, including his current visit to Taiwan. We regard this conduct as a further act of disrespect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the People’s Republic of China and a continuation of the regime’s provocative alignment with forces seeking to undermine the One-China principle.

Mswati’s participation in the so-called Taiwan’s National Day activities, at a time when the overwhelming majority of African countries maintain diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China, exposes once again the reactionary and opportunistic character of the Tinkhundla regime’s foreign policy. Reports confirm that Mswati is among the depraved and barbaric foreign guests attending Taiwan’s alleged 2026 National Day celebrations.

The CPS unequivocally reaffirms its principled position that there is only one China. The question of Taiwan must not be exploited by reactionary forces and imperialist interests to create division, confrontation and instability.

United Nations General Assembly Resolution 2758 of 1971 restored the lawful rights of the People’s Republic of China in the United Nations and recognised the PRC as the legitimate representative of China at the UN.

The CPS also recalls the revolutionary history of the Chinese people. The 1911 Revolution, or Xinhai Revolution, was a historic uprising that overthrew the Qing Dynasty, ending centuries of imperial rule and leading to the establishment of the Republic of China in 1912. The revolution represented a decisive historical rupture with the old imperial order and was part of the long struggle of the Chinese people for national renewal, sovereignty and political transformation.

However, the history of China did not end with the overthrow of the Qing Dynasty. Decades of political struggle, foreign intervention, civil war and social revolution followed. The Chinese Revolution of 1949 established the People’s Republic of China on the mainland, while the defeated Kuomintang forces retreated to Taiwan. The unresolved consequences of that civil-war period must not be manipulated by reactionary forces as a pretext for undermining China’s sovereignty or creating “two Chinas”.

The CPS therefore rejects Mswati’s continued diplomatic and political flirtation with the Taiwan separatists. We consider such conduct particularly shameful when the Tinkhundla regime itself routinely speaks of sovereignty while denying the Swazi people their fundamental democratic rights. A regime that demands respect for its own sovereignty must respect the sovereignty of others.

The CPS calls upon the people of Swaziland, workers, youth and democratic forces to reject the use of our country as an instrument for advancing reactionary and imperialist interests.

Swaziland’s foreign relations must serve the interests of the people, African solidarity, international peace, national sovereignty and the struggle against imperialism, not the narrow selfish interests of the absolute monarch.

The CPS stands firmly with the One-China principle, the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the People’s Republic of China, and the right of the Chinese people to determine their own future without foreign interference.

Mswati must stop using our country to disrespect the People’s Republic of China.

Issued by the Communist Party of Swaziland.
