On this International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, the Communist Party of Swaziland stands in support of the Palestinian struggle for justice, freedom, and self-determination. This day serves as a reminder of the ongoing plight of the Palestinian people, who have faced decades of oppression, displacement, and violence.
The roots of the Palestinian struggle can be traced back to the early 20th century, when Zionist colonization began to displace the indigenous Palestinian population. Following the establishment of the state of Israel in 1948, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians were forcibly removed from their homes. This event marked the beginning of a long-standing conflict characterized by systematic dispossession and violence against the Palestinian people.
The actions of the Israeli state against Palestinians constitute a form of genocide, as outlined by international law. The ongoing military occupation, the blockade of Gaza, and the relentless expansion of settlements are all manifestations of this brutal reality. The Israeli government, supported by imperialist powers, particularly the United States and the European Union, has perpetuated a regime of terror that seeks to erase Palestinian identity and sovereignty.
The toll of this ongoing violence is devastating. Since the beginning of the latest escalation in conflict, thousands of Palestinians have lost their lives, with a significant number being women, children, and the elderly. This highlights the indiscriminate nature of the violence that targets the most vulnerable members of society. These acts of genocide are the last scars of imperialism, a stark reminder of the enduring legacy of colonialism and exploitation.
The criminal regime of Mswati in Swaziland, which has forged a troubling friendship with the Israeli state. This relationship not only undermines the sovereignty of our nation but also contributes to the suffering of both the Palestinian people and the impoverished citizens of Swaziland. The resources that could be used to uplift our people are instead diverted to support Israeli military actions, which utilize materials in the ongoing genocide against Palestinians. This complicity in the oppression of the Palestinian people must end.
While calls for a ceasefire are crucial, we caution that such measures must not serve the interests of imperialism or the oppressive regime. A ceasefire that merely allows the Israeli state to regroup and rearm would be a betrayal of the Palestinian people's struggle for justice. During the recent ceasefire agreement, Israel continued to kill approximately 250 Palestinians, demonstrating its disregard for peace and human life. Furthermore, there are ongoing plans by the Israeli government to displace Palestinians to other parts of the world, a strategy aimed at erasing their existence and heritage. True peace can only be achieved through an end to the occupation and the recognition of Palestinian rights.
We call for the immediate recognition of a free and sovereign Palestinian state, stretching from the river to the sea. This vision is not merely a political statement; it is a fundamental human right for the Palestinian people to live in peace, security, and dignity in their homeland. The international community must recognize that true peace can only be achieved when justice is served, and the rights of Palestinians are upheld.
We also demand the end of the Zionist apartheid regime that systematically discriminates against Palestinians. The apartheid wall, checkpoints, and discriminatory laws serve as stark reminders of the oppressive reality faced by millions of Palestinians. The world must unite to dismantle this regime and support the Palestinian call for equality and justice.
On this day of solidarity, we reaffirm our commitment to the Palestinian cause and stand in solidarity with all those who resist oppression and fight for justice. The resilience and resistance of the Palestinian people serve as a great inspiration to the working class and oppressed peoples around the world in the fight against imperial aggression. The ongoing genocide is indeed the last scar of imperialism, and we will continue to advocate for Palestinian rights until freedom is achieved.
Long live the Palestinian resistance!
Long live international solidarity!
