PCV Expresses Solidarity with the Turkish People and the TKP in the Face of Government Repression Against the Anti-NATO Summit

Statement.—The Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) expresses its solidarity with the Turkish people, especially with the workers and members of the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP), who have been victims of brutal police repression by the reactionary government of Tayyip Erdogan against hundreds of demonstrators protesting the 36th NATO Summit, taking place on July 7 and 8 in Ankara, Turkey.

The Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) has organized an Anti-NATO Summit in that country, featuring public events, forums, demonstrations, and an international meeting taking place from July 4 to 12.

The Turkish government of Tayyip Erdogan, which commands NATO’s second-largest army, has intensified its repression in the context of the Atlantic Alliance summit. It has even prevented demonstrations in various parts of the country during the summit.

On Sunday, July 5, major events and demonstrations took place in several Turkish cities, which were violently suppressed by the police, resulting in hundreds of arrests and dozens of injuries, including activists from the TKP and other Turkish grassroots organizations.

The NATO Summit serves to reinforce the warmongering policies promoted by U.S. imperialism and its European allies. Having become the largest military bloc on the planet, this alliance constitutes a structure designed to impose the geopolitical and economic interests of imperialism, directly undermining sovereignty, the self-determination of peoples, and world peace.

The PCV calls for increased levels of organization and coordination among political and grassroots organizations fighting against the militarization of the planet and against the imperialist wars imposed on the peoples. It also urges everyone to remain mobilized, denouncing these warmongering actions.

We demand an end to the repression against those who raise their voices for peace.

We demand that Erdogan’s reactionary government immediately release our comrades from the TKP and the hundreds of workers and activists detained for protesting against the NATO Summit.

PCV se solidariza con el pueblo turco y el TKP por represión gubernamental contra la Cumbre Anti-OTAN

Comunicado.- El Buró Político del Comité Central del Partido Comunista de Venezuela (PCV) expresa su solidaridad con el pueblo turco, en especial con los trabajadores y la militancia del Partido Comunista de Turquía (TKP), víctimas de la brutal represión policial del gobierno reaccionario de Tayyip Erdogan contra cientos de manifestantes que protestan por la 36.ª Cumbre de la OTAN, que se celebra los días 7 y 8 de julio en Ankara (Turquía).

El Partido Comunista de Turquía (TKP) ha organizado una Cumbre Anti-OTAN en ese país, con actividades públicas, foros, manifestaciones y un encuentro internacional que se desarrollan del 4 al 12 de julio.

El gobierno turco de Tayyip Erdogan, que dirige el segundo ejército más grande de la OTAN, ha incrementado la represión en el marco de la cumbre de la alianza atlántica. Incluso, ha impedido las movilizaciones en distintas zonas del país durante la realización del encuentro.

El domingo 5 de julio se llevaron a cabo importantes actividades y manifestaciones en varias ciudades turcas, las cuales fueron reprimidas violentamente por la policía, dejando un saldo de cientos de detenidos y decenas de heridos, entre ellos militantes del TKP y de otras organizaciones populares turcas.

La Cumbre de la OTAN viene a reforzar las políticas guerreristas impulsadas por el imperialismo estadounidense y sus aliados europeos. Convertida en el mayor bloque militar del planeta, esta alianza constituye una estructura diseñada para imponer los intereses geopolíticos y económicos del imperialismo, atentando directamente contra la soberanía, la autodeterminación de los pueblos y la paz mundial.

El PCV hace un llamado a elevar los niveles de organización y articulación entre las organizaciones políticas y populares que luchan contra la militarización del planeta y contra las guerras imperialistas impuestas a los pueblos. Asimismo, exhorta a mantenerse movilizadas y movilizados, denunciando estas acciones guerreristas.

Exigimos al gobierno reaccionario de Erdogan la liberación inmediata de nuestros camaradas del TKP y de los cientos de trabajadores, trabajadoras y activistas detenidos por manifestarse contra la Cumbre de la OTAN
