The PCTE Condemns the Arrest of Leaders of the Communist Party of Jordan and Demands Their Immediate Release

The Communist Party of the Workers of Spain (PCTE) strongly condemns the arbitrary arrest of two members of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Jordan —comrades Dr. Omar Awad and Osama Zain Aldin— on the night of March 8, 2025 by Jordanian authorities. We equally denounce the arrest, some days before —on March 4— of the university student and militant Bahaa Aldin Elayyan. The PCTE demands the immediate and unconditional release of all those arrested.

Such arrests are not isolated facts. They answer to a systematic offensive of the monarchy against the forces whose political —completely legitimate— activity is uncomfortable for a regime that is acting as the key piece of the imperialist order in the area. Anti-communist repression is, in this context, a useful tool for the bourgeois State — hence our solidarity with the Communist Party of Jordan is also a matter of class.

These repressive actions are taking place at a time of maximum tension in the region, where the USA and its NATO partners have increased their military presence and their policy of destabilization in all the area, with Israel as their battery ram.

In light of these events, the PCTE demands:

• The immediate and unconditional release of Dr. Omar Awad, Osama Zain Aldin, and Bahaa Aldin Elayyan.
• An end to all persecution and harassment to members and leaders of the Communist Party of Jordan.

El PCTE condena la detención de dirigentes del Partido Comunista de Jordania y exige su liberación inmediata

El Partido Comunista de los Trabajadores de España (PCTE) expresa su más enérgica condena ante la detención arbitraria de dos miembros del Buró Político del Partido Comunista de Jordania, los camaradas Dr. Omar Awad y Osama Zain Aldin, arrestados la noche del domingo 8 de marzo de 2026 por las autoridades jordanas. Asimismo, denunciamos la detención, producida días antes, el 4 de marzo, del estudiante universitario y militante Bahaa Aldin Elayyan. El PCTE exige la liberación inmediata e incondicional de todos los detenidos.

Estas detenciones no son hechos aislados. Responden a una ofensiva sistemática de la monarquía contra las fuerzas cuya actividad política —plenamente legítima— resulta incómoda para un régimen que actúa como pieza clave del orden imperialista en la región. La represión anticomunista es, en este contexto, una herramienta útil para el Estado burgués y por eso nuestra solidaridad con el Partido Comunista de Jordania es también una cuestión de clase.

Estas acciones represivas se producen en un momento de máxima tensión en la región, en la que EE.UU. y sus socios de la OTAN, con Israel como ariete, han intensificado su presencia militar y su política de desestabilización en toda la zona.

Ante estos sucesos el PCTE exige:

— La liberación inmediata e incondicional del Dr. Omar Awad, Osama Zain Aldin y Bahaa Aldin Elayyan.

— El cese de toda persecución y acoso a los militantes y dirigentes del Partido Comunista de Jordania.
