The Iraqi Communist Party Condemns the US Aggression
Against Venezuela and Its People
On Saturday morning (3 January 2026), amid growing calls, as the New Year is ushered in, for the extinguishing of the flames of wars and tensions around the world so that peoples may enjoy stability, security, and prosperity, the United States launched a blatant military aggression against the independent Republic of Venezuela. This aggression had been preceded by statements threatening military intervention and an economic blockade of its ports.
We are facing a dangerous American escalation that undermines international peace and imposes the legitimacy of force over law. The practices of the Trump administration, represented by aerial bombardment and reports of the abduction of the Venezuelan president and his wife, are nothing but international piracy that violates sovereignty and terrorizes peoples. This new American arrogance under the Trump administration represents a further attempt to silence any voice, anywhere, that refuses to submit to oppressive American hegemony.
As we condemn this flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter, we demand an immediate halt to the aggression, the lifting of the blockade on the Venezuelan people, and the release of the abducted president.
We renew our solidarity with the people of Venezuela and their progressive forces, and we call upon the international community to shoulder its responsibilities and to exert pressure to ensure respect for state sovereignty and the right of peoples to self-determination.
