Press Release

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement:

Make Jan Akrosh Rally on 24th March a Success

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) is conducting a Jan Akrosh Rally on 24 March 2026 at Ramlila Grounds, Delhi. The rally is being organised following the culmination of the Jan Akrosh Jathas, which covered all the states in North India.

33 jathas were conducted between 27 February and 20 March (covering a cumulative 213 days) in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Bihar. More than a thousand public meetings were held, attended by around 1,50,000 people. About 35,000 booklets on these issues were sold, and 10,00,000 leaflets were distributed. Cultural teams travelled along with the jathas and performed street plays and songs highlighting the issues raised during the jathas.

The Jan Akrosh Jathas and the rally are being organised as part of a campaign demanding the BJP-led NDA government to:

*     withdraw the notification of the four labour codes;

*     scrap the VBGRAMG, which alters the basic character of the rural

employment guarantee act and undermines the livelihoods of rural workers and instead strengthen the MGNREGA;

*     not to amend the Electricity Act, privatise discoms, withdraw

cross-subsidies, and install smart meters, leading to increased electricity tariffs across the country;

*     not to amend the Seed Bill, which would take away farmers' rights to

develop their own seeds and strengthen the hold of multinational corporations over the seed market; and

*     scrap the India-US trade deal which is blatantly against the

interests of Indian farmers, workers and MSMEs.

In the course of these jathas, the extent of the plight of people suffering under the anti-people policies of the BJP-led Union government has once again come to light. The impact of the US-Israel war on Iran is being distinctly felt across the country. The increase in the prices of cooking gas and fuel, the scarcity of gas cylinders, rising food prices and full or partial closure of establishments and businesses are adversely affecting people's livelihoods. The rally will give voice to these hardships.

People from across North India will be mobilised for the rally, which is being held a day after Shaheedi Diwas (the martyrdom day of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, and Rajguru). All-India leaders of the CPI(M) will address the rally, and a call for action will be given.
