The New Communist Party of Yugoslavia expresses its full solidarity and support for the people of Iran, who are today facing destruction, suffering, and devastation on a scale that painfully recalls what the peoples of our country endured during the NATO aggression in 1999. The images of bombed cities, shattered infrastructure, and civilian casualties evoke the same tragic reality our nation experienced, when bridges, hospitals, schools, and entire neighborhoods were deliberately targeted under the pretext of a so-called “rules-based order.”

The attacks carried out by the United States and Israel against Iran constitute a brutal act of imperialist aggression against a sovereign nation. Numerous reports of deliberate strikes on civilian targets, including horrific crimes against children and the wider civilian population, point to grave violations of international law and the most basic principles of humanity. Such actions can only be described as war crimes, for which the political and military leadership of these states must be held accountable.

This aggression exposes the hypocrisy of the so-called “rules-based international order,” which collapses whenever major powers choose to impose their will by force. It is especially alarming that many Western countries have failed to condemn these actions, and in some cases have even provided indirect support, thereby becoming complicit in the further destabilization of global peace.

The world is entering an extremely dangerous phase, in which imperialist centers of power—driven by ultra-right policies in the United States—seek to preserve their dominance through war and regional destabilization. In this context, the assault on Iran forms part of a broader strategy aimed at reshaping the Middle East, establishing permanent military and political structures under the control of Washington and Tel Aviv, and subordinating the peoples of the region to their geopolitical interests.

At the same time, it is the people of Iran who bear the heaviest burden—caught between external aggression and internal political constraints. The war further undermines the struggle of progressive forces, the labor movement, and all those fighting for peace, freedom, and social justice, while shrinking the space for democratic activity under the pretext of war and national security.

The New Communist Party of Yugoslavia believes that, in these circumstances, it is of utmost importance to strengthen unity and solidarity among the Iranian people, to prevent divisions, and to organize aid for all those affected by the destruction. At the same time, the struggle for peace and the right of nations to determine their own future—free from foreign intervention and coercion—must continue.

We call upon Communist and Workers’ Parties, as well as all progressive forces worldwide, to stand firmly in defense of peace, sovereignty, and justice—for the people of Iran and for all nations facing the threat of imperialist intervention and war. Only through united struggle can we resist the politics of force and build a world based on equality, justice, and genuine international solidarity.Belgrade,
