The statement ofthe Tudeh Party of Iran:
The Tudeh Party of Iran Condemns the Ongoing Wave of Suppression and Arrest of Political Activists!
The security forces' systematic arrest of the country's political activists, including activists and officials affiliated with the "Reform" movement, which has been going on since the first day of the week, shows the fear of theocratic regime of any voice opposing Khamenei's rulings. Tudeh Party of Iran believes that the regime is deeply appalled by the scale of the protest demonstrations and the clear slogans of millions of people in the streets across the country calling for regime change.
After the bloody crackdown on demonstrators on January 8 and 9 and the killing and detention of thousands of citizens, the theocratic dictatorship is now trying to silence any voice that voices the true narrative of the killings and repression, contrary to Khamenei's false claims and regime's propaganda.
In his February 1 speech, Khamenei once again called the people's protests "agitation" and described them as a "coup" against his regime. He completely justified the killing and repression of the people, effectively declaring that any narrative different from this great lie was forbidden because it was considered "collaboration with the enemy." In this regard, the arrest of the leaders and officials of the Iranian Reform Front in recent days, on trumped-up and familiar charges that the head of the judiciary, Mohseni Ejei, described as "in harmony with the enemy," is a clear sign of the deep fear of Khamenei and those close to him of any voice that is no longer willing to submit to the will of the Supreme Leader in the face of killings and repression.
The majority of the Iranian people are mourning the thousands of people who lost their lives in last month's protest movement. It is inthis situation thatmore than four decades since the popular revolution of 1979 the ruling dictatorship is now facing tens of millions of citizens who are deeply discontented and fed up with high prices and injustice who although are not organized because of the regime's violent and bloody repression, are united in their detestation of the regime and have expressed that they reject the theocratic dictatorship. This reality has frightened the regime so much that it is even afraid of the movements and activists who, until now, have voiced onlysoft protests in vain, believing in "reforms" from above and within the framework of "preserving the system." This fear has compelled the regime to instantly suppress and stifle any sign of the possibility of organizing and any voice opposing the "Supreme Leader" that canpotentially resonate in society.
The Tudeh Party of Iran, along with other patriotic and progressive forces, condemns the arrests of recent days and the threats against the political activists protesting the killings by the regime's repressive apparatus, and calls for the immediate and unconditional release of all detainees. The risk of execution threatens the lives of political prisoners, especially those recently arrested. We must work with all our might in unison to stop the regime's plans for a new massacre of freedom fighters.
The Tudeh Party of Iran calls for the release of all political and trade unionist prisoners and prisoners of conscience, and thousands of unidentified prisoners arrested in the recent protests.
