The 27th Congress of the Communist Party of Ireland will be held in Dublin on April 25th and 26th.

The Congress takes place as the general crisis of capitalism continues to impact negatively on the Irish working class, family farmers and self-employed. The NATO/EU imperialist bloc is busy re-arming and preparing for war as a solution to the crisis within capitalism.  The Irish government is actively attempting to push through legislation which will allow them to deploy Irish troops abroad without a United Nations mandate. This is in line with the policy of US imperialism which seeks to de-legitimatise the authority of the United Nations.

Since our last Congress hundreds of thousands Irish people have continued to protest against the Zionist genocide in Palestine and against Irish state and business complicity with the zionist state. This has awakened a new awareness of imperialism as a world system.

Tens of thousands have protested against increasing prices, homelessness, poverty, underfunding of health, education and social services while at the same time governments on both sides of the British imposed border call for increased military spending.

Congress will debate all of these and other issues as we chart a path towards the achievement of a reunited, neutral socialist republic.

We would request that you send greetings to our 27th Congress.

In Solidarity,

Jimmy Corcoran,

General Secretary.
