The rulers have reduced the state to a mockery. The cases registered against Iman Mazari and Hadi Chatha are nothing but a cruel joke. Their arrest represents a grave violation of human rights, and they are being deliberately targeted for political victimization. The judiciary is being forced to dance to the tune of the administration and certain institutions, bringing international embarrassment to the country over its judicial system and human rights record.
Iman Mazari and Hadi Chatha are writing a new and courageous chapter in the struggle for the rule of law and human rights. The legal fraternity across the country, organizations fighting for human rights, all humanitarian forces, and progressive, people-friendly citizens must step forward and play an effective role in securing the release of Iman Mazari and Hadi Chatha, restoring human rights, and ensuring the independence of the judiciary.
These views were expressed today by Comrade Imdad Qazi, Secretary General of the Communist Party of Pakistan and Convener of the Popular Left Alliance, while strongly condemning the government’s action of arresting Iman Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha.
Comrade Qazi demanded that the government immediately release Iman Mazari, Hadi Ali Chatha, Dr. Mahrang Baloch, Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Ali Wazir, Idrss Khattak and all other arrested and convicted political leaders, workers, women, and activists across the country; produce all forcibly disappeared persons before the courts; bring an immediate and complete end to the practice of enforced disappearances; and ensure protection for all citizens.
