Call to action

The Communist Party of Poland calls all comradely communist and workers' parties to oppose political repressions in Poland.

The CPP faces the threat of illegalization. On the 1st of October the Polish Constitutional Court will be considering a motion to illegalize the CPP.

This motion was filed by the previous prosecutor general and minister of justice in November 2020. After nearly five years the Constitutional Court has announced that it will take under consideration this motion and check whether the activities of the CPP do not violate the constitution.

We are also facing persecution for the communist ideas. In October 2023 new amendments to the Penal Code were introduced. These changes included ban of communist ideology and symbols, their unacceptable and unhistorical equation with fascism (article 256 of the Penal Code) and penalizing communist activity with up to 3 years of imprisonment. People are already being repressed ia. for displaying communist symbols during this year's 1 May demonstration in Warsaw.

Earlier there were attempts to illegalize communist symbols and persecution of the editorial board of the CPP's newspaper „Brzask” that was unjustifiedly accused of “promoting totalitarian system”, that ended with conditional suspension of the proceedings.

It is indicative that the attempt to ban the CPP is being promoted by the Constitutional Court, whose decisions are contested amid rivalries between the previous and current governments, with each bourgeois party bending bourgeois justice to its own ends in order to serve the goal of banning the Communist Party of Poland, its action in the intetests of the working class and the Polish people, and to strike a blow against workers' and peoples' rights.

All of the above make international solidarity such as statements, protest actions and petitions even more important. We need Your support in making the political persecution in Poland known to the rest of the world and to break the blockade and the silencing of the operation to ban the Communist Party of Poland in the media and on the political scene of Poland.

Therefore we appeal to all communist and workers' parties to support us and express their opposition against attempts to illegalise the CPP. We ask you to organise the international protest action in front of the Polish embassies or consulates on 29th of September or on other, earlier date that will be suitable.
