Mass Mobilization Against ICE in Minnesota

A powerful, broad-based coalition of labor unions, community organizations, and faith groups in Minnesota are mobilizing for a statewide shutdown on Friday, January 23, in direct response to the violent federal occupation by thousands of heavily armed ICE agents terrorizing working-class and immigrant communities.

The action was sparked by the police shooting of a 37-year-old mother, Renee Nicole Good, and has grown into a powerful, unified working-class led movement. The main demand is that ICE must be removed from Minnesota—out of the neighborhoods, workplaces, schools, hospitals, and the state.

This Friday’s “Truth and Freedom” march builds on a 10,000-strong demonstration earlier this month and represents the unity between the trade union movement and the mass people’s resistance against state authoritarianism and fascist violence. Community and labor leaders are framing this moment as a frontline fight against the imposition of fascist dictatorship.

Key labor bodies, including the Minnesota AFL-CIO, UAW, SEIU, UNITE HERE, ATU, teachers’ unions, and many others, have endorsed the shutdown. Our Party is proud to contribute to this mass people's action and will be in the streets shoulder to shoulder with the working class resistance to the fascist ICE.

What’s happening in Minnesota is a flashpoint for the entire U.S. working class. It demonstrates the power of labor-community unity to confront repression and reclaim streets. We call for international attention and solidarity with the people of Minnesota this January 23.
